Palestinian group claims

Nablus - Ma'an -

Israeli occupation forces in Huwwara interrogation center, located south of Nablus in the north of the occupied West Bank, violently beat 25 Palestinian detainees on Thursday, a Palestinian prisoners' rights group has claimed.

The Nafha society for the defense of human and prisoners' rights said on Friday that Israeli soldiers had stormed the cells of detainees on Thursday night and forced them out into the camp's yard. The Israeli prison guards then allegedly attacked 25 of the detainees with sticks and batons.

The prisoners were then forced to sleep the night outside in the yard, without mattresses, the Nafha society added in a statement. The prisoners told Nafha that it was "the worst day in their lives."

Huwwara interrogation center is notorious for its poor living conditions and the maltreatment of prisoners at the hands of the Israeli soldiers there. Nafha society also adds that the detainees suffer from poor quality, and a poor quantity, of food in the detention center. Detainees have also complained of beatings, humiliation, death threats, and being prevented from carrying out their Islamic prayers.
