Date: 22 / 07 / 2007 Time: 09:35

Gaza – Ma'an –

Two fighters from Hamas' armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, were killed on Sunday morning in an armed confrontation with invading Israeli occupation forces in Beit Lahiya, in the northern Gaza Strip.

The area of the incursion is the location of the evacuated former illegal Israeli settlement of Eli Sinai.

The Qassam Brigades confirmed that 19-year-old Muhammad Ma'aroof and Mustafa Abbas, aged 20, were killed whilst attempting to ambush an Israeli occupation undercover force.

Palestinian medical sources told Ma'an's Gaza correspondent that ambulances were delayed in transporting the bodies to Kamal Udwan Hospital. The corpses reached the hospital two hours after they were killed as a result of the intensive gunfire in the area.

After the incident, Islamic Jihad's military wing, the Al-Quds Brigades, announced that they detonated a 50-kilogram explosive device near an Israeli military tank. No casualties have been reported.

BEIT HANUN, (PIC)--

Two members of the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas Movement, were killed on Sunday in an Israeli occupation forces (IOF) Apache helicopter bombing of their position in northern Gaza Strip.

Locals told PIC correspondent that an IOF Apache fired at a group of Qassam fighters who were trying to ambush an IOF special force in liberated areas in northern Gaza.

They said that two of the group were killed after being directly hit, and added that they sustained injuries to the chest and face and died before reaching hospital.

IOF sources said that soldiers spotted the two and fired at them, adding that grenades and machineguns were found in their possession.

For its part, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, the Quds Brigades, took the credit for blasting a 50-kilogram explosive device in an IOF tank north of the Strip.

It said that the blast directly hit the tank, affirming that the attack was a normal response to IOF atrocities.

In Al-Khalil (Hebron), a group of Palestinian youths, infuriated with the IOF and Jewish settlers' crimes against their families and lands Saturday night hurled stones and empty bottles at a bus loaded with settlers damaging the vehicle but no injuries were reported.

The AMB, the armed wing of Fatah faction, on Saturday fired machineguns at an IOF roadblock southeast of Jenin district.

It said that the fighters clashed with the soldiers and inflicted casualties in their lines before safely retreating to bases.
