Said Siyam answers questions on recent events in the Gaza Strip

Date: 06 / 07 / 2007 Time: 10:20

Bethlehem - Ma'an -

The head of the Hamas bloc in the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) and former minister of the interior, Said Siyam, said that the Egyptian government has prepared the arrangements for his return to the Gaza Strip, after his arrival from Syria.

Speaking to London-based newspaper, Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Siyam said that he intended to stay for four days in the Egyptian capital, but was informed by the authorities that he should return to the strip as soon as possible, because the arrangements for his return were ready immediately and there should be no delay.

In his comments on the recent incidents in the Gaza Strip, Siyam said that the Executive Force is a part of the Palestinian security forces and was acting on the orders of the ministry of interior. He added that the events in the strip were part of decisions made directly by the Hamas movement.

"There was no prepared plan, there was a field decision taken against some of the security bodies, such as the preventive security and some of the barriers of the national forces, which were used to practice terror, upon orders from Mohammad Dahlan," said Siyam.

"Everyone was shocked by the quick collapse of the security forces," he added.

The former minister denied that there was any desecration of the house of the late Yasser Arafat and called for a trial of the head of Palestinian intelligence, Tawfiq Tirawito.
