Israeli occupation forces enforce curfew in Tulkarem and deny exit to anyone under 35

Date: 07 / 07 / 2007 Time: 15:12

Tulkarem – Ma'an –

Israeli occupation forces on Saturday prohibited Palestinian citizens, under the age of 35, from exiting Tulkarem, in the northern West Bank, for the fifth consecutive day.

In order to enforce the curfew, Israeli soldiers erected several barriers, especially around roadblocks in the neighbouring villages of Jbara and Annab, to the south of Tulkarem.

A correspondent for Ma'an reported that eyewitnesses said "the Israeli occupation soldiers at the two checkpoints are humiliating the citizens and intend to delay them. They do not care about old or sick people."

In Nablus, witnesses stated that the Israeli occupation forces stationed at the Beit Iba roadblock, west of Nablus, prevent Palestinians entering if they are from Jenin or Tulkarem.

"Hundreds of citizens are standing in rows at the barriers for admittance, even after being checked thoroughly," said witnesses.

Israeli occupation forces prevent farmers from using their land in Tulkarem

Date: 07 / 07 / 2007 Time: 12:42

Tulkarem – Ma'an –

Israeli occupation bulldozers have on Saturday closed off the roads that lead to the agricultural areas near the town of Dair Al-Ghosoun, north of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank. The bulldozers created earth mounds, preventing Palestinian citizens from cultivating their lands.

Acting head of the municipal council of Dair Al-Ghosoun, Abdulkarim Ghanim, stated "these latest actions by Israeli occupation forces will escalate the situation in the village".

Ghanim pointed out that the goal of the earth mounds is "to strengthen the siege against the town and to seize more of the Palestinian lands."
