PFLP statement: Sharm Al Shaikh summit proved that Israel wants to create internal Palestinian conflicts

Wednesday June 27, 2007 01:57 by IMEMC Staff saed at imemc dot org

The leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) issued a press release on Tuesday stating that what the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, said at the Sharm Al Shaikh summit in Egypt, on Monday, proved that Israel only wants to create further conflicts among the Palestinian factions.

The PFLP added that there were not positive results of this summit, except that it proved that Israel does not want real solutions to the conflict as it only presented “vague promises”.

The PFLP also stated that Israel wants to create civil war among the Palestinians, and is seeking further conflicts between Fateh and Hamas, especially when Olmert demanded president Mahmoud Abbas to order the resistance to halt all of its activities against the occupation.

Moreover, the PFLP added that when Olmert spoke about releasing some of the money Israel withheld since Hamas was elected last year, he wasn’t in fact talking about compromises from Israel since this money belong to the Palestinian people and Israel withheld them.

The PFLP added that Olmert “promised” to release “some detainees from Fateh movement” under conditions set by Israel, which is considered another attempt to create further conflicts and widen the gap between Fateh and Hamas.

At the end of its statement, the PFLP said that it rejects all internal conflicts, rejects any divisions between the Palestinian people and the Palestinian actions, and that Israel is only seeking to disarm the Palestinian resistance factions because it wants to impose its own version of “peace”, which is practically forcing the people to surrender.

The PFLP called on Fateh and Hamas to stop the internal clashes, the smear media campaigns between then, and called for a comprehensive national dialogue which will lead to forming a unified leadership.

Taher: Sharm Al-Sheikh summit revealed Israel's attempt to ignite civil war

[ 27/06/2007 - 11:00 AM ]

DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Dr. Maher Al-Taher, the politburo member of the PFLP, warned on Tuesday against "the attempts to isolate Hamas and to deepen divisions in the Palestinian arena and to exploit the infighting that took place in the Gaza Strip to obtain new Palestinian concessions."

Commenting on the Sharm Al-Sheikh quartet summit attended by Israeli premier Ehud Olmert and PA chief Mahmoud Abbas in the presence of the Egyptian and Jordanian rulers, Taher also warned during an interview with PIC against any attempt to disarm the Palestinian resistance or to separate the West Bank from the Gaza Strip.

Taher opined that the summit did not result in any outcome in favor of the Palestinian cause, and underlined that Olmert's request to Abbas to eliminate the Palestinian resistance proved the Israeli attempt to deepen the internal discord in the Palestinian arena in order to ignite a civil war.

The PFLP leader criticized what Olmert offered in his speech at Sharm Al-Sheikh saying it "proves that the Zionist entity looks down on Palestinians and Arabs". He charged that Olmert presented "hollow" promises devoid of any real political content.

He highlighted the need to return to inter-Palestinian dialogue, and called for forming an interim national leadership grouping secretaries-general of all national and Islamic forces "to deal with the serious internal Palestinian crisis and to block the Palestinian people's enemies from liquidating the Palestine cause."
