Kisufim army base (MaanImages) Gaza – Ma'an –

Four Palestinian combatants from the Islamic Jihad-affiliated Al-Quds Brigades and the Fateh-affiliated Al-Aqsa Brigades attacked an Israeli military post in the Israeli town of Kisufim on Saturday afternoon.

The spokesmen of the Al-Quds Brigades, Abu Ahmed, reported on the brigades' website that "four men – two from Al-Quds and two from Al-Aqsa Brigades – were able to break into the base using a jeep, which was locally-enforced and armoured. They managed to destroy an Israeli jeep before clashes erupted between the fighters and Israeli forces."

Eyewitnesses confirmed that clashes were heard in the post, but that they could not see the presence in the post or if there were any injuries.

Abu Ahmed added "the operation was complicated, the fighters managed to break through the gate after detonating explosives at the entrance and then four martyrs clashed with the Israeli soldiers in the post, while a reinforcing unit launched mortar shells into the base."

The spokesperson of the Al-Quds Brigades, speaking to Ma'an in a telephone call, said "the martyrdom operation was conducted by a locally-made hummer jeep, which was prepared specially for this operation."

He said that four men were responsible for breaking into the army post in the armoured vehicle and "were able to explode several devices in the base, before armed clashes erupted between the Palestinian fighters and the Israeli soldiers."

Eyewitnesses said that two Israeli helicopters were noticed in the sky above the military base, reinforcing the soldiers on the ground.

The Fateh-affiliated Ayman Jouda Brigades said in a statement "in 'Operation Hot Summer' four men were able to enter the post using armoured jeeps and managed to destroy two Israeli military jeeps and launch dozens of mortar shells at the post." The statement added that three of the fighters managed to withdraw, but one remained inside the post.

The Israeli army announced that they killed one of the Palestinian combatants and that there were no Israeli soldiers killed or injured in the attack.
