Anti-War Rallies, Marches in US Cities, on Saturday, October 27, Protesting the Israeli Occupation of Palestine, US Wars on Iraq and Afghanistan

ccun.org, Freedom Socialist Party

October 26, 2007

Dear friends,

On October 27, antiwar groups will hold marches and rallies across the U.S. We urge you to participate and help build the growing outrage against the government's insidious wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, its oppression of Palestinians through massive aid to Israel, and its policies that oppress and suppress the working class everywhere in the name of profit.

Last year at this time all too many of our working class brothers and
sisters energetically supported Democrats who promised to end the
war and bring the troops home. But those politicians won their majority
and haven't done a damn thing to carry out any of their promises. They
will soon confirm a new Attorney General who won't oppose the Bush
regime's rampant use of torture. They haven't cleaned up after Hurricane Katrina or done anything to alleviate the nationwide poverty that Katrina so blatantly revealed. Their leading presidential candidates now contend it will take years to get out of Iraq. The Democrats all have big business dollars in their campaign treasuries, and carry out big business's agenda.

It's long past time to take to the streets and stay there until all our
demands are met.

The October 27 marches are an excellent place to start. National antiwar groups are working together to a greater extent than they have in the past. They still need pushing to build a true united front and put the demands of all the oppressed on the front burner. That can happen if people opposed to the war get involved and speak out everywhere.

On October 27, I urge you to join the regional demonstration nearest you:

In Boston, rally at noon at Boston Commons.

In Chicago, several feeder marches will converge at 1:30 p.m. at Union
Park (Ashland & Lake) for a rally followed by a march to the Federal Plaza.

In Jonesborough, TN, a 3 pm rally will be followed by a 5-mile march to
weapons manufacturer Aerojet Ordnance to protest its use of
depleted uranium.

In Los Angeles, gather at Olympic and Broadway to march to the Federal Building. In New Orleans, protesters will rally at Washington Square from 2pm until 6pm and then march through the French Quarter.

In New York City, assemble at noon on Broadway north of Union Square.

In Orlando, FL, meet at 12:30 pm at the Northeast corner of Lake Eola for a rally followed by a march.

In Philadelphia, join the human chain across the Ben Franklin Bridge
starting at noon.

In Salt Lake City, the action starts at 11:00 AM at the Utah State Capital.

In San Francisco, rally at the Civic Center at 11 am and then march to
Dolores Park.

In Seattle, convene at noon at Judkins Park to march to a rally at
Occidental Square.

FSP will be at the marches in Los Angeles, New, York, San Francisco and Seattle. Look for us there, and join with us afterward in a nationwide effort to build the democratic, multi-issue, and powerful anti-war movement that could end this capitalist war and prevent future wars!

In solidarity,
