6 Palestinians Killed, 26 Kidnapped by Israeli Occupation Forces on April 17, 2008

Two senior Islamic Jihad leaders killed in Qabatia

Two senior leaders of Islamic Jihad's Al-Quds Brigades were killed on Thursday morning after Israeli occupation forces besieged them in a house under construction in the northern West Bank town of Qabatia, south of Jenin.

Sources within Al-Quds Brigades identified the victims as 26-year-old Bilal Kameel and 19-year-old Iz Addin 'Uwaidat. According to the Islamic Jihad sources Kameel was one of the senior Islamic Jihad leaders in the northern West Bank.

The operation began at 2:30 am when an Israeli force accompanied by two bulldozers stormed the eastern neighborhood of Qabatia and besieged a house under construction where the two activists were hiding. The troops called them through loudspeakers asking them to surrender, but they refused and clashed with the Israeli soldiers who fired missiles at the house killing both activists.

Three Palestinian resistance fighters died in Gaza on Thursday

Palestinian sources reported that three Palestinian fighters died on Thursday, two due to previous wounds and one during clashes with the Israeli occupation army at midday today.

Osama Abu Anzah, of the Qassam Briagdes, the armed wing of the Hamas movement, was killed when armed clashes with the Israeli army took place at the Karem Salem border crossing located in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources said that Abu Anzah was killed and another fighter was injured in the clashes. Israeli sources said that the two fighters were attempting to enter the Israeli side of the crossing when the clashes took place.

Meanwhile the Al-Qassam Brigades today stated that two if its fighters died. Abduallah Suliman died today after succumbing to wounds he sustained on Monday in Jabaliya refugee camp in central Gaza, while Mohamed Al-Mutawak, 22, died due to wounds he sustained on Sunday during an Israeli army attack targeting Jabaliya town.

Palestinian boy found dead near an illegal Israeli settlement

A Palestinian boy from the northern West bank village of Beit Fureik near Nablus was found dead on Wednesday afternoon near the Israeli settlement of Al-Hamra.

15-year-old Hamid Khatatba had been missing for tor two days before his body was found, his cousin told Ma'an. The boy was employed as an agricultural worker in the Jordan Valley northeast of Nablus.

His cousin accused illegal Israeli settlers of the killing, pointing out that the boy's neck was broken and there were signs of torture and blood on the body. He also highlighted that the Israeli authorities have refused to hand over Hamid's body to his family.

26 Palestinians kidnapped by the army from several parts of the W.B on Thursday

Palestinian sources reported that the Israeli occupation army kidnapped 26 Palestinians from several parts of the West Bank on Thursday at dawn.

The army invasions were focused in the southern West Bank cities of Hebron and Bethlehem as well as northern West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin.

The sources said that 11 Palestinians were kidnapped from Nablus, as 50 military vehicles stormed the city and nearby refugee camp of Balata, eyewitnesses reported. Troops searched and ransacked homes, the witnesses added, before kidnapping the civilians.

The Israeli occupation army radio stated that those kidnapped today are on what the army calls "Wanted Palestinians."

The Palestinian security forces have recently redeployed in Jenin and Nablus in coordination with the Israeli occupation army in order to assume security control over them, as a result of the Abbas-Olmert meetings. The army, however, continued to invade the citied and kidnap Palestinians alleging that they are wanted.

Palestinian territories under total closure during Passover

Bethlehem – Ma'an –

The Israeli occupation forces are to impose a total closure of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip during the Jewish holiday of Passover.

The closure will begin at midnight on Thursday and will end on Sunday April 27.

The closure means that Palestinians will only be able to enter Israel in cases of emergency, which should be coordinated with the Israeli civil liaison offices.
