Israel's Offer of a Palestinian State, Nothing More than a Reservation or a Misleading Security Plan, Say Tayseer Khaled and Sami Abu Zuhri

Khaled: “Israel is offering a reservation which it calls a ‘state’”

Monday August 18, 2008 23:39 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC News

Tayseer Khaled, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, member of the political bureau of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), sated on Monday that what Israel is offering the Palestinians is nothing more than a “reservation under Israeli sovereignty”.

Khaled added that such offers push the Palestinians to stop peace talks as “Israel and its military leadership are ongoing with their provocations, and are continuously showing lack of interest in the peace process”.

He called for halting all talks with Israel and for restoring the internal Palestinian unity.

Khalid also said that Israel is trying to force its own vision of the settlement by voiding the issues of Jerusalem, the refugees, and the Palestinian Plaines, and added that the new “Shelf” deal which was presented by Olmert excludes any solution on Jerusalem, settlement blocs, the Annexation Wall, the Refugees, and annexes all Palestinian water and natural resources.

He added that these Israeli preconditions, which Israel and the United States are trying to force the Palestinian to accept, transform peace talks into “fruitless and endless transitional arrangements” without achieve a real peace deal.

Hamas: Israel's security plan for a Palestinian state is a misleading attempt

[ 18/08/2008 - 05:09 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

The Hamas Movement stated that Israel's talk about a security plan for establishing a Palestinian state at this time is an attempt to mislead the public opinion and give the impression that it is interested in peace, but the problem lies in the Palestinians.

In an exclusive press interview with the PIC, Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, underlined that the Israeli security plan [to be implemented after reaching a peace deal on all the permanent status issues] is not worth discussion because it talks about the continuation of Israel's control over Palestinian land and air; therefore, this Israeli deception is unacceptable.

Abu Zuhri pointed out that the PLO is no longer authorized to negotiate or talk on behalf of the Palestinian people after it refused to abide by the Cairo and Makka agreements in addition to the fact that PA chief Mahmoud Abbas's terms of office is almost expired.

The spokesman highlighted that the Palestinian people would foil any conspiracy targeting their rights especially with regard to occupied Jerusalem and the return of refugees.

In a statement received by the PIC, Rabah Muhanna, a member of the popular front for the liberation of Palestine political bureau, expressed rejection of the Israeli security plan, saying that the Palestinian people can only accept a fully sovereign Palestinian state.

Muhanna noted that such Israeli plans come in light of PA negotiator's susceptibility and the inter-Palestinian discord.
