US Soldier, 6 Iraqis Killed in War Attacks, 20 Bodies Found in Ba'aqouba Mass Grave, According to August 19, 2008 News Reports

- A mass grave containing 20 bodies was uncovered in Abu Tu'ama area, east of Ba'aqouba.

- Sectarian Iraqi security forces attacked a Palestinian residential area in Al-Baladiyat, mistreated people for three hours in order to provoke reactions, which would justify arrests or harming residents.

- Sectarian Iraqi special forces stormed Diala governor's office, killing the secretary and arresting others.

*Politics and Security:

KIRKUK, Police and US-recruited Sahwa forces on Tuesday arrested five suspected gunmen during a security raid in southwest of Kirkuk, a local police chief said.

BAGHDAD, Iraqi security forces killed one gunman and arrested 14 wanted men in separate areas of Baghdad over the past 24 hours, the Baghdad's operations command said on Tuesday.

KIRKUK, Policemen arrested on Tuesday one al-Qaeda wanted man in southwestern Kirkuk, a police source said.

MISSAN, The headquarters of the 38th brigade of the 10th division of the Iraqi army was rocketed on early Tuesday, an Iraqi army source said.

BAGHDAD, The Iraqi Defense Ministry on Sunday said its forces seized huge pipes used for smuggling oil at a sea port in Basra.

DIALA, A civilian was killed and three more from the same family were injured in a bomb explosion in Muqdadiya, a security source said on Tuesday.

BASRA, Police forces on Tuesday arrested four wanted men and found a weapons depot in the south of Basra, an official police source said.

BAGHDAD, The U.S. army on Tuesday said that one of its soldiers were killed in a rocket attack on a military base in north of Amara city, raising the U.S. fatalities in Iraq in August to 17 soldiers.

NINEWA, A mortar shell landed on the building of al-Iraqia and al-Mosuliya satellite channels in eastern Mosul without causing any casualties, a police source said.

MISSAN, U.S.-Iraqi forces on Tuesday captured three wanted individuals in Missan, a security source said.

BAGHDAD, The central Baghdad al-Wasti hospital received one body and four wounded people, the casualties from an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Baghdad, a medic from the al-Rasafa health department said.
 
DIALA, An Iraqi police force arrested the official in charge of the Diala provincial council's security committee in central Baaquba on Tuesday, an official police source in the province said.
 
BAGHDAD, One civilian man was killed when a sticky improvised explosive device emplaced by unidentified gunmen under his vehicle went off in southern Baghdad on Tuesday, an Iraqi police source said.
 
DIALA, Iraqi policemen killed a bodyguard of Diala Governor Raad Rasheed al-Mulla and beat his deputy during a raid on his office on Tuesday, an official police source in Diala said.
 
NINEWA, Four people, including two Kurdish security agency (Asayesh) personnel, were wounded on Tuesday when a car bomb went off near a security patrol in the district of Talkeef, north of Mosul city, police said.
 
DIALA, Four policemen were wounded in clashes after the detention of the Diala University president on Tuesday, an official police source in the province said.
 
DIALA, A total 116,783 persons were released in accordance with the general pardon law so far, an official justice source said on Tuesday.

DIALA, The Diala local administration decided to suspend work as of Tuesday for a three day mourning period in protest to the killing of the governor's secretary, a security source in Diala said.
 
ARBIL, Twenty-three fighters of the Kurdistan Workers Party were killed in military operations with the Turkish army during the month of July until today, the PKK's official in charge of foreign relations said on Tuesday.
 
BAGHDAD, The parliamentary security and defense committee on Tuesday said that it is important to place military units all over the country, including those in Iraq's Kurdistan region, under the control of the central government in Baghdad.
