3 Palestinian Killed of Israeli Missile Attack on Beit Hanoon,100 Injured While Protesting Israeli Land-Grab, Apartheid Wall in Bethlehem and Nablus, Five kidnapped

Aljazeera tv reported on February 23, 2008, at 9:00 am ET that the Israeli occupation forces launched a missile at Beit Hanoon, north of Gaza Strip, killing three Palestinians and injured several others.

At least 70 people were injured by Israeli occupation forces, including a number of children, during a non-violent demonstration against the illegal Israeli Land-Grab, Apartheid Wall in the village of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem on Friday.

43 people, 13 of them women and children, were admitted to hospital suffering from tear gas inhalation, the demonstration organizer Samir Jaber told Ma'an.

18 people were hit by rubber bullets and were taken to Al-Yamameh Hopspital. Three people, including two children suffered severe bruising, after they were beaten by Israeli occupation soldiers trying to disperse the crowd.

Organizers said that more than 1,500 local villagers and Israeli and international peace activists attended this week's demonstration against the Separation Wall and confiscation of village land.

The protest began after Friday prayers at the southern entrance to the village. Israeli occupation soldiers sprayed the demonstrators with tear gas canisters and rubber bullets.

Dr. Mohamed Odeh from the Palestinian Medical Relief and two other ambulance staff were also injured as they tried to evacuate the injured from the scene.

Medical Relief condemned the Israeli occupation soldiers' attack on their staff, saying that it is not the first time that members of their medical crews have come under Israeli attack, which is "a flagrant violation of international law, that guarantees medical crews neutrality."

Three injured as the army invades Nablus

Three Palestinian civilians were injured when Israeli occupation forces stormed al-Ain Refugee camp located in the northern West Bank city Nablus on Saturday morning.

The army surrounded the house of Majdi Mabruk, 30, and fired a number sounds bombs and detonated explosives near the house injuring Mabruk sister Nabeelah. One man identified as, Sabah Salam and one child were lightly wounded by shrapnel of the sound bombs.

Eyewitnesses reported that soldiers hand-cuffed and blind-folded Mabruk and took him to an undisclosed location.

Local sources said that Mabruk is a leader of the Abu Ali Mustafa brigade, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestinian (PFLP) and has been wanted by the Israeli army since three years.

Witnesses stated that the military operation lasted for several hours, during which at least 17 military vehicles roamed in the camp and troops searched scores of homes in the camp.

Twelve residents injured in a protest against land expropriation near Salfit

The National Resistance Committee reported on Friday that twelve residents were injured near the west Bank city of Salfit after the Israeli army attacked a peaceful protest against the ongoing Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands in order to pave a settler-only road.

The twelve residents suffered gas inhalation as the army fired gas bombs and concussion grenades at them.

The residents were protesting against the latest annexation of their lands in Kafil Hares village and the total closure of their village in addition to the ongoing construction of the Annexation Wall and the ongoing expansion of illegal settlements.

Nasfat Al Khafsh, the coordinator of the National Resistance Committee expressed appreciation for the large public participation in the protest and stated that this protest is part of the series of protests against settlements, the Wall and the ongoing illegal annexation of Palestinian orchards and lands in Salfit district.

Ahmad Boziyya, head of Kafil Hares village council, stated that the ongoing nonviolent resistance will continue as long as Israel continues its illegal activities against the residents and their lands.  

Fifteen injured at the weekly protest of Bil'in.

The villagers of Bil'in, located near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, along with international and Israeli supporters, conducted their weekly protest against the illegal Israeli land-grab, apartheid wall being built on village land. Israeli troops attacked the protesters.

As is the case each week for over two years now, the protest started after Friday prayers, with participants marching from the village center towards the construction site of the Wall.

This week the theme of the protest was to mark the third anniversary of the continuous nonviolent struggle of Bil'in village and the 39th anniversary of the Democratic Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP).

As soon as the protestors left the village and walked towards the village's confiscated land it was met with a military barricade set up by the Israeli soldiers. As soon as the protest reached the barricade soldiers showered them with tear gas and sound bombs.

As a result, sixteen civilians including one journalist were injured and had to be moved to a hospital in the nearby city of Ramallah for treatment, where the injuries were described as light to moderate.


Israeli occupation forces kidnap senior Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades commander

Israeli occupation forces stormed Al-'Ain refugee camp west of Nablus on Saturday, kidnapping one of the senior commanders of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

His relatives told Ma'an that special Israeli occupation forces surrounded his house at dawn on Saturday with around 15 Israeli military vehicles. They used explosives to blast through the front door of the house, before detaining 30-year-old Majdi Mabruka.

Majdi Mabruka is one of the senior leaders of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades in the West Bank.

Israeli occupation forces kidnap four Palestinians in West Bank

Tulkarem – Ma'an -

Israeli occupation forces kidnapped four citizens from the town of 'Atil north of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, at dawn on Saturday.

Ma'an's correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation army stormed the town on Friday evening, raiding several houses and kidnapped 19-year-old Leith Muhammad Ekteish, 23-year-old Mamoon Badawi, 21-year-old Sulaiman Badawi and 20-year-old Bilal Jalal Salim.

Our correspondent added that the four men were taken to an unknown destination.

Meanwhile also on Saturday, Israeli occupation forces kidnapped two men from the town of Sourif northwest of Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

Security sources said that the Israeli occupation soldiers raided the town and broke into a number of houses. They kidnapped 23-year-old Mus'ab Mustafa Sobaih Al-Hawr and 22-year-old Saif Ad-Dein Ahmed Abdul Fattah Al-Hawr. They were taken to Israeli interrogation centers.
