AL-KHALIL, (PIC)--

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed an 18-year-old Palestinian in Beit Ummar village, Al-Khalil (Hebron) district, on Friday and wounded two other young men during an attack on the houses of two resistance fighters who were killed in the Thursday raid on the illegal  Israeli settlement of Gush Etzion, located to the south of occupied Jerusalem.

Medical sources reported the death of the teen, Mahmoud Awad, a high school student, after sustaining several gunshot wounds in his abdomen and chest.

The IOFs also seriously wounded Mousa Abu Maria, 19, in his eyes and ears and Abdullah Selimi in his head. Both were rushed to the national hospital for treatment.

Palestinian local sources reported that the clashes with the IOFs broke out after they stormed a condolence reception held in a Palestinian house as well as the houses of Qassam martyrs Mohammed Sabarnah, 21, and Mahmoud Sabarnah, 20, who were identified as the resistance fighters who launched the "Gush Etzion operation", which resulted in the injury of six Zionists.

The sources added that the IOFs, after ransacking the two houses, kidnapped all members of the two Sabarnah families.

For its part, the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed its aforementioned fighters' responsibility for carrying out the Gush Etzion operation which led to the injury of six Israeli soldiers and settlers and the martyrdom of the two fighters.

Peace activists turned away from Erez Crossing

Date: 26 / 01 / 2008  Time:  14:47

Bethlehem - Ma'an -

An estimated 2,000 people, in an action sponsored by a coalition of Israeli peace groups, are outside the Erez Crossing into Gaza, Ma'an's reporter said.

With their truckload of supplies for the besieged Gaza residents turned away, the action has become a statement of solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The aborted delivery contained essential foodstuffs, including rice, flour, lentils, cooking oil and bottled water. Despite the humanitarian nature of the delivery, the collection of border police and soldiers guarding the crossing terminal have kept it sealed.

Sponsored by six Israeli peace organizations, volunteers arrived via bus from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Be'er Sheva, Haifa and Nazareth as well as by private car. The sponsoring organizations are Gush Shalom, Combatants for Peace, the Coalition of Women for Peace, the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, Bat Shalom and Bat Tzafon.
