An explosive device detonated near al-Mustansiriya University in eastern Baghdad , leaving a policeman killed and two others wounded, security source said Wednesday.
“An improvised explosive device (IED) went off against a police vehicle patrol in Palestine Street near al-Mustansiriya University, eastern Baghdad, leaving a policeman killed and two others wounded”, a police source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq(VOI).
The source noted the explosion caused no civilian casualty.

Unknown gunmen kill university professor in Mosul

Ninewa, Jan 30, (VOI)-

Unknown gunmen shot dead a university professor on Wednesday in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, Ninewa police said.
“Unknown gunmen opened fire at Ahmed al-Nuaimi’s car while driving from Mosul University to his house in Muswak district, northern Mosul, leaving him dead ”, Brig Abdel Karim al-Juburi, the director of Ninewa police operation room, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq (VOI).
Al-Nuaimi is the head of Islamic Shari'a department in Mosul University.
The police official added "another person accompanying the academic was wounded in the attack".
The attack is the second of its kind in Mosul in as many days.
Ten days earlier, gunmen shot dead Aziz Suleiman al-Nuaimi, computer science professor, near his house in Wahda district, south-eastern Mosul
Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Unknown body, two heads found in Salah al-Din

Police patrols on Wednesday found an unknown body and heads of two unidentified persons in Salah al-Din, said a security source.
"Police patrols found an unknown body of a young man in Dalouiya district, north of Baghdad," the source, who asked to remain anonymous, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).
"The body shows two signs of gunshot wounds to the head," he noted.
"Touz Khormato police also found this morning heads of two unidentified persons," the source also said.
Tikrit, capital city of Salah al-Sin, is 175 km north of Baghdad.

Gunman killed, two bodies found in Mosul

Mosul, Jan 30, (VOI)-

An Iraqi army force on Wednesday killed a gunman while planting an explosive charge in western Mosul, while security forces found two unknown corpses in the city, the director of the Ninewa police operations room said.
"Iraqi army forces killed a gunman while planting a bomb in Mosul al-Jadida region in western Mosul," Brig. Abdul Karim al-Juburi told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).
"Security forces found two unidentified bodies last night in al-Islaah al-Zeraai region in western Mosul," he added.
Mosul, capital city of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad.

U.S. forces wound two, detain 5 gunmen in Baghdad-army

U.S. forces detained five gunmen during two separate operations in Baghdad, the U.S. army said on Wednesday.
"Coalition forces wounded two (Iraqis) and detained four total suspected gunmen early this morning during operations in the Baghdad area," the U.S. army said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).

3 civilians, policeman wounded in 2 blasts in Baghdad

At least three civilians and a policeman were injured on early Wednesday in two separate explosions in Baghdad, a police source said.
"An improvised explosive device went off targeting an Iraqi army vehicle patrol in al-Ghadier neighborhood in eastern Baghdad, wounding three civilians," the source, who asked not to be named, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).
"Another bomb exploded near the Technological University in eastern Baghdad targeting a police vehicle patrol, injuring a policeman," he added.

Four family members killed, wounded in Diala

One person was killed and three others of the same family were injured on Wednesday morning when a group of gunmen opened fire against them in Khalis, Diala, a police source said.
