The swap deal with Lebanon prompts Palestinian resistance to raise its demands

[ 17/07/2008 - 10:35 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

The popular resistance committees stated Wednesday that the conclusion of a prisoner swap deal between the Lebanese resistance and the Israeli occupation would prompt the Palestinian resistance factions, which are capturing Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, to increase their demands.

In a press statement to the Quds Press, Abu Mujahid, the spokesman for the committees, said that Israel's ban on the release of those who killed Israelis was broken after it released Lebanese fighter Samir Al-Kuntar and this makes the Palestinian resistance demand the release of all Palestinian prisoners serving high sentences in any swap deal with the Israeli occupation.

Abu Mujahid hailed the swap deal between the Lebanese resistance and Israel as an honorable deal and a big triumph for the resistance in Palestine and Lebanon.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the acting speaker of the PLC, opined that the swap deal was a victory scored for the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation and a fall of the Israeli arrogance and false slogans against the release of all resistance fighters after the release of Kuntar from Israel jails.

Dr. Bahar underlined that the Israeli occupation understands the language of force in order to return usurped rights to its owners and has no options other than to acquiesce to the demands of the resistance.

On Wednesday, the Lebanese resistance handed the remains of two Israeli soldiers who were captured two years ago in exchange for the release of Quntar and four of his colleagues in addition to 200 Palestinian and Lebanese martyrs.

A large number of Palestinian citizens along with Hamas leaders and MPs participated on the same day in a massive march organized by Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip to celebrate the swap deal and express their solidarity with Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir.

The masses carried pictures of the Sudanese president and Lebanese fighters and banners demanding the prosecution of warmongers who committed real war crimes against children, women and innocent people in Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq.

While expressing their happiness for the victory achieved by the Lebanese resistance, the participants condemned the attempts to prosecute the Sudanese president as flagrant interference in Sudan's internal affairs.

During the march, Yasser Harb, a Hamas leader, stated that the path of resistance proves day after day that it is the most suitable option and not the frivolous negotiations which only succeeded in releasing prisoners who are serving few months in Israeli jails.
