Israeli Occupation Government Demolishes Three Palestinian Houses in Occupied Jerusalem

[ 11/06/2008 - 03:34 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

The Israeli occupation government (IOG) demolished on Tuesday three Palestinian houses in the areas of Beit Hanina, Al-Salam, Al-Toaor in occupied Jerusalem at the pretext of being unlicensed, while the Israeli police blocked the targeted areas and prevented citizens form getting out or in until the end of demolitions.

The Israeli central court also decided to demolish for the second time the house of Ihab Al-Tawil in the Beit Hanina area which was built two years ago on the ruins of his previous one that was demolished in 2005 by Israeli bulldozers.

Al-Ttawil said that he and his family are living in a state of fear everyday that Israeli bulldozers will come again to demolish their 50-square-meter tin-roofed house.

Al-Tawil, who spent eight years in Israeli jails, stated that it is unfair to demolish Palestinian houses while Israel builds thousands of settlement units throughout occupied Jerusalem and West Bank, pointing that the IOG refuses to grant Jerusalemite citizens building licenses.

In another context, Zio-American sources revealed that all restrictions on increasing the security assistance provided by US for Israel were eliminated after US approved to increase this aid to 30 billion dollars to be spent in 10 years on improving the existing Israeli military arsenal.

This huge figure means that the current annual aid which stands at 2.4 billion dollars will increase to three billion dollars a year.

Israeli sources said that the delay in approving the military and security aid to Israel was because the leadership of the democratic party, which controls the senate and the house of representatives, was not at the beginning enthusiastic about the idea of increasing the existing aid, which requires its approval, fearing it would be used by the republicans to boost their nominee's presidential bid.

The sources added that the office of the Israeli premier along with the ministries of war and foreign affairs made intensive efforts during the current year to persuade the democrats to stand by the increase in aid.

Last week, speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi announced her approval to ratify the increase as of next October during the Zionist AIPAC conference in Washington.
