Palestinian MP Khudari asks Angela Merkel to Explain her Stand Regarding the Israeli Occupation Government unethical siege of Gaza Strip

[ 17/03/2008 - 06:52 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

Palestinian MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the chairman of the popular anti siege committee, on Monday asked German chancellor Angela Merkel, who is currently visiting the Hebrew state, to explain her stand regarding the suffocating Israeli occupation authority siege on the Gaza Strip.

He said in a message addressed to the chancellor that the IOA siege contradicts human ethics and civilization. He urged Merkel to pressure the IOA to immediately end that siege.

He stressed that the Palestinian people are being "illegally targeted", which necessitated an international stand pressuring the occupation government.

One and a half million Palestinians in Gaza are living under an "oppressive Zionist siege" that did not spare any of its economic, social, health or agricultural life, the lawmaker elaborated.

He said that the hermetic blockade imposed on the Strip has led to the death of 110 patients while thousands of factories were closed down due to absence of raw material.

The IOA reduced fuel and electricity supplies to the Strip paralyzing a number of vital sectors in the Strip, Khudari underlined, adding that the Palestinian people are the target of a "Zionist genocide that contradicts the international law, the Geneva Convention and human rights".

Hamas: Merkel only remembers the Nazi holocaust and forgets about the Zionist one in Gaza For its part, the Hamas Movement issued a statement signed by its information office in Damascus lashing out at Merkel for her "disgraceful" stand that contradicted positive stands of other European officials towards the Palestine cause in general.

The Movement noted that the German chancellor announced on arrival in the Hebrew state that she came to display solidarity with Israel and to participate in its 60th establishment anniversary.

The statement for a responsible source in Hamas said that Merkel also declared her support for Israel as a "Jewish state" and brazenly said that any "threat to Israel would be dealt with as a threat to us".

Merkel's statements and stands reflect the degree of "moral degradation" of this chancellor that declared support for a "usurping entity" that commits massacres against the children, women and elderly people of Palestine, the source said, adding that Merkel only remembered the Nazi holocaust against the Jews in her country and forgot about Israel's holocaust in Gaza.
