US Soldier, 31 Iraqis Killed, Including 19 Executed by Death Squads, According to March 4, 2008 News Reports

Yaqen.net news agency reported the following news today:

- US forces wounded a driver of a truck as he was getting closer to them east of Falloujah, then they burned his truck.
- Al-Jihad neighborhood in Al-Kut has been under US-Iraqi forces siege since dawn today.
- Three policemen were injured when their was attacked with a bomb in Mosul.
- An Iraqi woman was killed, three children were wounded by a shell fired by British forces in Basra.
- Shaikh Adnan Jassem Al-Battawi, tribal chief of Al-Battah in Mada'in, was killed in a US air raid on his car today at 11:00 am, local time.
- A US Hummer was destroyed by a roadside bomb in Al-Hamra area near Tikrit.

Suicide bomber killed in Mosul

    Mosul, Mar 4, (VOI)-

Security forces on Tuesday killed a suicide bomber driving a car bomb targeting a checkpoint in western Mosul, the spokesman for the Ninewa operations command said. "Police and army forces killed a suicide bomber driving a car rigged with explosives towards a checkpoint in al-Thawra neighborhood in western Mosul," Brig. Khaled Abdul Sattar told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).

"The forces killed him before blowing up the car," the brigadier noted. "The attack left no casualties," he also said. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad. SH

    Mosul, March 4, (VOI)-

A police force found two corpses dumped in Mosul on Tuesday, a security source said. "A police force found two bodies, the first was identified as a policeman kidnapped on Tuesday in Wadi Egab district, west Mosul", the source told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq (VOI).

The source added "the second body was unknown but found dumped in al-Sa'a district, central Mosul, riddled with gunshots mainly to the head and chest". Mosul, the capital of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north Baghdad. AM/SH

Mass grave found in Muqdadiya

    Muqdadiya, Mar 4, (VOI)-

Diala police forces found 15 bodies in a mass grave in a village in Muqdadiya district, an official security source said on Tuesday. "A mass grave containing 15 corpses in Rukham village in Muqdadiya, northeast of Baaquba, was found by police forces," the source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).

"The bullets-riddled bodies were badly decayed," he noted. He did not provide further details. Meanwhile, the same source said that a joint force of police and army personnel managed to defuse five roadside bombs in Sunieja village in Muqdadiya. Muqdadiya is 45 km northeast of Baaquba, the capital of Diala, which lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. SH

Iraqi police patrols found on Tuesday two unidentified bodies dumped in different parts of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source said. "Police patrols found two unknown corpses dumped in various parts of Baghdad," the source, who asked not to be named, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).

"The first body was found in Sadr City in eastern Baghdad, while the second body was found in al-Sidiya neighborhood, western Baghdad," the source added. "The bodies found bore signs of gunshot wounds to different parts of the body, mainly to the head," he noted. SH/SR  

Iraqi chopper located wrecked in western Iraq

Baghdad, Mar 4, (VOI) -

The U.S. army said on Tuesday that its forces found the Iraqi helicopter, which crashed on Monday.

"Today at approximately 11:56 a.m., Coalition Combat Search and Rescue teams located the wreckage of an Iraqi Mi-17 helicopter north of Lake Thar Thar," the U.S. army said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). "Recovery operations have been completed and there were no survivors," it added.

"One Coalition force member was among the eight personnel onboard," the statement also said. "The helicopter was reported overdue and presumed missing Monday. The last reported contact with the aircraft was Monday at 2:40 p.m," it noted. SH/SR

5 U.S. soldiers wounded in IED attack in Baghdad

Five U.S. soldiers were wounded in an improvised explosive device attack that targeted their patrol in southern Baghdad on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Multi-National Force (MNF) said.

"The IED attack also wounded one civilian who happened to be near the explosion site," Abdul-Latif Rayan said in exclusive statements to Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI). AE

Civilian gunned down south of Ba'aqouba   Diala - Voices of Iraq

    Ba'aqouba, Mar 4, (VOI) -

A civilian was killed on Tuesday by unidentified gunmen south of Ba'aqouba, an official security source said. "Suspected al-Qaeda gunmen shot and killed a civilian in Bahraz district, south of Ba'aqouba, and fled to an unknown place," the source told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI) on condition of anonymity. Ba'aqouba, the capital of Diala, is 57 km northeast of Baghdad. SH/SR

3 Sahwa fighters wounded in attack northeast of Baghdad

Salah al-Din, Mar 4, (VOI) –

Three (US-recruited) Sahwa (Awakening) tribal fighters were wounded in an armed attack in Yathrib district, east of Balad town, a police source in Salah al-Din province said on Tuesday.

 

"Gunmen attacked a checkpoint of the Sahwa forces in al-Mazarih village in Yathrib district on Monday night, wounding three tribal fighters in a crossfire," the source, who asked not to be named, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI).  AE
