Israeli air strikes kill five Palestinians in Rafah and Khan Younis

The Israeli air force bombed two police stations in the cities of Rafah and Kahn Younis, in the Gaza Strip, leaving five Palestinians dead late on Friday.

Witnesses said that an Israeli F16 fighter jet fired a missile at a police station operated by Gaza's de facto government in Rafah, killing two.

Separately, an Israeli helicopter gunship attacked the police headquarters in Khan Younis, killing three.

Medical sources at Abu Yousef An-Najjar hospital in Rafah identified the dead as 23-year-old Bassam Ahmad Abu Shbeikah, 25-year-old Mohammad Mazen Abu I'rmanah, Mohamamd Abu Odah (whose age was not reported), Omar al Ser and Samir Wafi (age also not reported).

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the ruling Hamas movement, claimed responsibility for shelling an Israeli community bordering Gaza, killing one Israeli civilian and injured three Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli occupation airforce escalated its bombing of Palestinian police stations in the southern Gaza Strip Friday night killing five policemen, raising the number of casualties to seven over the past 24 hours.

Three Palestinian policemen were killed in when their station Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, was bombed.

Palestinian security and medical sources said that Apache helicopters fired two rockets at a police station to the west of Khan Younis and fired a third at policemen running out of the station.

Shortly before that, two Palestinian security personnel were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their headquarters in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah. Three others were wounded in the attack.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli war planes fired two rockets at the Security headquarters.

Meanwhile, a resistance fighter from the Shati' refugee camp succumbed to wounds he sustained on Thursday in an Israeli occupation airstrike that targeted resistance men near Jabalya seriously wounding four of them.

A seventh Palestinian was killed by Jewish settlers in the West Bank. He was killed in a field between the villages of Ein Yabroud and Doura al-Qara' to the north east of Ramallah.

IOF troops rushed to the scene and stopped ambulances from reaching the victim leaving him to bleed to death. His body was then taken to the Ramallah government hospital.
