A bomb exploded in Choti Choupad in the western Indian city of Jaipur May 13, 2008. More than 60 people were feared killed in bomb blasts in Jaipur on Tuesday, state television said, citing Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

    NEW DELHI, May 13 (Xinhua) --

At least 60 people were killed and 150 others injured by eight blasts in Jaipur, the capital city of Indian state of Rajasthan Tuesday evening, the Press Trust of India reported.

    The serial blasts hit crowded market areas and near a Hanuman temple in the walled city.

    "According to the information I have received, 60 people have died and 150 have been injured," said Chief Minister of Rajasthan Jaipur Vasundhara Raje.

    Rajasthan Director General of Police A. S. Gill said it was "obviously a terror attack."

    New Delhi, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh have been put on high alert after the Indian Home Ministry raised a nation-wide alert following the serial bomb blasts.
