Palestinians in Europe Hold their 6th Awda Conference in  Copenhagen, Raed Salah Says Right of Return is the Core

Shaikh Salah: The right of return is the core of the Palestinian cause

[ 03/05/2008 - 05:00 PM ]

COPENHAGEN, (PIC)--

Shaikh Raed Salah, the leader of the Islamic Movement in the Palestinian lands occupied in 1948, on Saturday told the sixth Palestinians in Europe conference held in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, that the right of return is the core of the Palestinian cause. Shaikh Salah underlined that the natural place of any talk about compensations, whatever the alternatives could be to the right of return, is in the trash can.

The Palestinian leader called on premier Ismail Haniya and PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to start an independent free Palestinian dialog for the sake of uniting the Palestinian house until the liberation of the whole Palestinian lands and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, Salim Al-Hoss, the former Lebanese premier, opined that the right of return summarizes the whole Palestinian cause and ignoring or denying this right in settlement projects is a denial of the most basic human right and a violation of human and cultural values in its simplest sense.

The former Lebanese premier told the same conference that uprooting a citizen from his home in order to accommodate an adventurer who came from the far corners of the world is piracy in its ugliest forms.

Hamas: The Copenhagen conference is a message to Abbas

[ 04/05/2008 - 11:46 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

The Hamas Movement stated that the sixth Palestinians in Europe conference held in Copenhagen is a message to PA chief Mahmoud Abbas that no one has the right to waive the right of return and the Palestinian refugees are determined to return to their homes, highlighting that the frivolous negotiations with Israel can never abrogate this right.

Ismail Radwan, a prominent Hamas leader, pointed out that Hamas welcomes the call of Sheikh Ra'ed Salah for starting unconditional inter-Palestinian dialog and stopping useless negotiations in order to unite the ranks against the Israeli aggression.

Radwan explained that the reason for the failure of many initiatives calling for initiating internal dialog is that the PA chief  cannot open national dialog without taking permission from Israel and US, noting that the problem lies mainly in the interference of the American administration in the Palestinian internal affairs.

The Hamas leader pointed out that Hamas informed former US president Jimmy Carter during his meeting with its leaders about the current US administration's intervention in the Palestinian internal affairs  and the pressures it exercise on the PA.

The Hamas leader also hailed the Palestinian masses in Europe who commemorated the 60th anniversary of the Nakba, saying that they confirmed during their conference that the right of return is sacred and no one has the right to give it up.

The sixth Palestinians in Europe conference which was held Saturday in Copenhagen was concluded with a final statement in the presence of more than 10,000 participants which confirmed the adherence of all Palestinian refugees in diaspora to their right of return to their homeland.

The final statement underlined that the Palestinians throughout the European continent is part of the Palestinian people with their historical depth, civilizational heritage and Arab and Islamic identity and that the Palestinian people in every area of the world is one inextricable and indivisible unity.

The statement also underscored that the Palestinians in Europe, like all their compatriots, are determined to return to their homes from which they were displaced and reject all attempts to prejudice, relinquish or compromise this right, adding that the Palestinians in Europe will not give up their right or delegate any one to waive it.

The statement also condemned the Israeli attempts to judaize occupied Jerusalem, the schemes to destroy the Aqsa Mosque, and the siege and crimes committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.
