 Israeli Occupation Forces and Settlers Injure, Assault, Tear Gas Palestinian and International Peace Activists

9-Year-old boy wounded in nonviolent protest near Bethlehem

9-year-old, Hareth Buraijiyah from Al-Ma'asara, South of Bethlehem, has been injured after he was brutally beaten by Israeli soldiers this Friday afternoon, during a nonviolent protest. The boy suffered cuts and bruises in his arm after troops pushed at the barbed wire.

The villagers protested against the Wall, which is being built on the land of the village. The demonstrators raised the Palestinian flag and banners that condemn the Israeli operation and the wall.

Banners were also raised to mark the anniversary of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People, which is to denounced the Israeli continue escalations against the Palestinian people during the last 6 decades.

The soldiers used barbed wires to stop the demonstrators to get close to the construction sight. During this the child was hurt, while all the Palestinian and the Internationals activist were demonstrating peacefully, according to Muhammed Buraijiyah, spokesman of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements.

Three Palestinians injured in Hebron settler attacks

Three Palestinians were injured after being attacked by hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers in the Wad Al-Hussain area adjacent to an illegal Israeli settlement in Hebron on Saturday, according to witnesses.

One man, 60-year-old Asa’ad Al-Ja’abari, sustained injuries to the head, telling Ma'an that Palestinians "were attacked by hundreds of settlers who hurled stones on us and on our homes."

He added that Issa Amer, who works as a field researcher for Israeli human rights organization B'talem, was also injured in addition to a third resident. Several homes were also damaged, according to Al-Ja'abari.

Local sources said that "Israeli soldiers joined the settlers in the attack by firing aimlessly," hoping to "intimidate the residents."

Palestinian Health Action Committees worker detained by Israeli occupation forces near Jerusalem

Israeli occupation soldiers arrested the accountant for the Health Action Committees in Palestine at the Jaba checkpoint on Saturday north of Jerusalem.

The HAC are a non-profit group with funding from several organizations in Europe and North America, and are loosely affiliated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) a leftist party in Palestine.

The accountant, Khaleel Abu Ghattas, was carrying identification which indicated he worked with the HAC and was en route to the main office of the organization in the West Bank city of Al-Bireh near Ramallah.

Israeli occupation police officer filmed assaulting Palestinians in Jerusalem

An Israeli human rights organization filmed a police officer "head-butt" two Palestinians in Jerusalem early in November, according to a news release sent to Ma'an on Friday.

In the Bustan area of East Jerusalem's Silwan neighborhood, Israeli human-rights group B'Tselem videotaped a helmeted Israeli police officer head-butt two Palestinians, a man and a woman, the group said.

The alleged assault occurred in the midst of a Jerusalem Municipality-ordered house demolition on 5 November 2008.

The researcher from B'tselem who filmed the incident submitted the videotape to Israel's Department for the Investigation of Police within the Ministry of Justice, which subsequently opened an investigation.

The Bustan section of the Silwan neighborhood is home to some 90 buildings that house nearly 1,000 Palestinians. In recent years, the Jerusalem Municipality has issued demolition orders for nearly all of these homes, according to B'tselem.

  International, local and Israeli activists tear-gassed in Bil'in demonstration

 Israeli occupation soldiers fired teargas, rubber-coated steel bullets and sound bombs at a group of Bil’in residents, Israeli and international activists on Friday as the group marched to the site of the separation wall in an anti-occupation protest.

The protesters raised Palestinian flags and banners calling for the guarantee of Palestinian’s right to Jerusalem, the right of return, Palestinian controlled borders, access to water, the release of all Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons and the removal of the separation wall and Israeli settlements from the West Bank and Gaza.

Joining the group this week were students from Al-Najah University and a large contingent of international activists.
The international activists carried banners showing their solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Palestinian right to resist the occupation and live in peace on their land.

A Danish activist described her presence at the demonstration as a result of her “belief in [Palestinians’] right to live in peace.”

“We are here today in Bili’n,” she said, “because we see the wall as an obstacle to the building of a Palestinian state.”

A Japanese protester explained that he was at the protest “to show my solidarity with the Palestinians in Bili’n on the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian people. I have heard a lot about this village and the weekly protests against the wall and settlements. I admire the struggle in Bili’n.”

Four Palestinians injured at Ni'lin anti-wall demonstration

Four Palestinians were reportedly shot by Israeli occupation forces at an anti-wall march in the West Bank village of Ni’lin, near Ramallah, on Friday.

After Friday prayers, demonstrators gathered near lands threatened with confiscation, shouting slogans and demanding help for 120 families whose lands are to be confiscated.

As protesters neared the construction site, Israeli occupation forces opened fire "from close range" with tear-gas canisters "fired directly at protesters," as well as rubber-coated bullets, according to a statement received by Ma'an.

Four injured Palestinians were taken to a hospital in Ramallah, the statement added.

Two Palestinians injured by Israeli soldiers during Jayous anti-wall demonstration

Qalqiliya – Ma’an –

Two Palestinians were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets shot by Israeli occupation soldiers as they participated in the peaceful demonstration against the wall in the village of Jayous west of Qalqiliya on Friday.

Those injured were identified as Muhammed Walid Salim and Muhammed Abdul Rahman Salim.

Villagers demonstrated with activists and toured the streets of the village calling for the end of settlement construction. When the group reached what has been designated a military area Israeli troops prevented their progress and clashes ignited.
