Seven Palestinians wounded by Jews in East Jerusalem

Sunday October 19, 2008 16:30 by IMEMC Staff - IMEMC & Agencies

Seven Palestinians were reportedly wounded on Sunday after a group of Jews attacked them late on yesterday night, Palestinian sources reported.

The Israeli police announced that a Palestinian truck driver and several others were wounded yesterday night after a group of Jews hurled stones at the truck and Palestinian passersby in the occupied east Jerusalem.

The police said three Jews were detained and that extremist Jews were prevented from reaching the compound of the Al-Aqsa mosque of Jerusalem, the third holiest place for Muslims worldwide and a point of conflict between Palestinians and Israelis for the past six decades.

Israeli media sources reported that the Israeli police command in Israel have stepped up preventive measures to avert recurrence of last week's clashes between Arabs and Jews in the Israeli-Arab city of Acre (Akka).

In the meantime, earlier on Sunday the Israeli police found the corpse of a Palestinian young man at an abandoned building in the Anbiya' street in west Jerusalem, the sources added.
