9 Iraqis Killed in War Attacks, 34 Corpses Found in Al-Qaem Mass Grave, Attacks on US Forces with Casualties, According to October 22, 2008 News Reports

Yaqen. net reported the following news:

- The 1920s Brigades announced three attacks on US forces: They destroyed a US military vehicle in Kirkuk junction, Al-Doz district. A US armored personnel carrier was destroyed by a roadside bomb in Salahuddin Juncture, south of Mosul. Two US soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb targeting a convoy in Amiriyat Al-Falloujah (US forces have not reported on the latter report).

- A US forces patrol was targeted by a roadside bomb in Kirkuk but without resulting in damages or casualties.

- An Iraqi explosives expert was killed, two were injured as they were trying to diffuse a bomb southeast of Ba'aqouba.

- A car bomb exploded in Mosul resulting in casualties.

- 34 corpses of Iraqis executed by death squads were found in an Al-Qaem mass grave.

- One person was killed, eight were injured in three explosions in Baghdad.

- A body of an executed Iraqi was found in Baghdad.

- An Iraqi Christian man and his son were killed by a death squad east of Mosul

- 32 corpses of Iraqis executed by death squads found in Al-Qaem mass grave belong to Iraqi Army recruits.

Gunman killed, another wounded in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One gunman on Wednesday was killed and another was wounded while attempting to plant a roadside bomb that detonated while a police force was surrounding them to the west of Mosul, said the Zamar police commander in Ninewa province.

“A gunman today was instantly killed, while another was seriously wounded, when a roadside bomb that they were attempting to plant went off, while a police force was surrounding them, central Zamar city (60 km west of Mosul),” Brigadier Faraj Kheri-Beg told Aswat al-Iraq.

“The injured gunman was admitted to Duhuk Hospital under intensive guard,” he said.
“Police forces arrested four suspects in the same area,” he added.

“Interrogation is underway with the suspects,” he asserted.
Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

4 civilians killed, 3 injured in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Four civilians were killed and three were wounded on Wednesday in a car bomb explosion in western Mosul, a police source said.

“A car crammed with explosives went off in al-Thawra neighborhood in western Mosul, killing four civilians and injuring three,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

“The blast did not target any military convoy,” he noted.
Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

2 civilians injured by roadside bomb in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two civilians were injured on Wednesday in a roadside bomb blast in western Baghdad, a police source said.

“The bomb, planted on the road, went off in al-Mansour region in western Baghdad, injuring two civilians,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

“The explosion caused material damage to a nearby civilian vehicle,” he added.
The blast is the third today in the capital.
A police source had said earlier that a civilian was killed and 6 more were wounded in two explosions in central Baghdad.

Civilian killed, 6 wounded in 2 blasts in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

A civilian was killed and six others were wounded on Wednesday in two explosions in central Baghdad, a police source said.

“An improvised explosive device went off this morning near the industry ministry in al-Bab al-Sharqi region in central Baghdad, killing a civilian and injuring three,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

“Another bomb exploded near Sahet al-Andalus in central Baghdad, injuring three civilians,” he added.
Baghdad is the capital of Iraq and Baghdad province. With a municipal population estimated at 7,000,000, it is the largest city in Iraq. It is the second largest city in the Arab world (after Cairo) and the second largest city in southwest Asia (after Tehran).

4 soldiers wounded in Mosul

Four Iraqi soldiers were wounded on Tuesday in two separate incidents in northern and eastern Mosul, an Iraqi army source said.

“Three soldiers were wounded when an explosive charge went off targeting an Iraqi army convoy near al-Ghabat bridge in al-Arabi neighborhood in northern Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“Another soldier was injured when a sniper opened fire on an Iraqi army checkpoint in al-Bekr neighborhood in eastern Mosul,” another army source said.

Unknown body found in eastern Mosul

Police forces found on Tuesday an unknown body in eastern Mosul, a security source said.
“Police found an unidentified corpse in al-Nour neighborhood in eastern Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

“The body bore signs of gunshot wounds to the head and the chest,” he added.
“It was sent to the forensic medicine department,” he noted, without giving more details.
Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Editor's Note:

Only God knows how many Iraqis are killed everyday. The following represents part of the reporting but readers are advised that the actual number of deaths should very much exceed what's reported.

Concerning deaths of US soldiers, only those US citizens who die in Iraq are included in the statistics. There are no published statistics about US soldiers who die of their injuries after that. There are no published statistics about the deaths or injuries of the private army soldiers (security contractors), or about those without US citizenship.

It is noteworthy that May 20, 2008 news reports showed that death squads which execute Iraqis on daily basis are no longer hiding themselves. Previously, Sunni leaders pointed to Mahdi Army and Badr militiamen as the perpetrators. Now, death squads are composed of the US-recruited Sahwa fighters and policemen.

On September 6, 2008, news reports mentioned the killing of nine Iraqis who were arrested by Al-Muthanna Brigade of the Iraqi Army stationed in the city of Al-Falloujah. There corpses were found with bullets shot on their heads and chests. This incident is evidence that the sectarian-based Iraqi forces have been functioning also as death squads, which killed Iraqis for suspicion of belonging to resistance organizations, without any legal procedures or trials.

Despite the fact that there are scores of organizations involved in the Iraq war, the Iraqi government officials prefer to refer to them as Alqaeda gunmen for propaganda purposes, as mentioned in the June 4, 2008 news report. For accuracy purposes, the term "Alqaeda gunmen" may be replaced with "Iraqi fighters."

Finally, on daily basis, US-led forces arrest scores of Iraqis in an attempt to pre-empt them from resistance. Tens of thousands of Iraqis are still there in US detention camps and in the prisons of the US-backed Iraqi government.
