2 US Soldiers, 2 Policemen Killed in War Attacks, 17,800 Iraqis Imprisoned in US Detention Camps, Including 70 Children, According to October 3, 2008 News Reports Yaqen.net reported the following news: - The Pentagon announced that it will spend $300 million in the following three years for propaganda and psychological warfare in Iraq, as reported by the Washington Post. - Al-Jihad and Change Front announced destroying a US Hummer vehicle on Al-Bakr road, another Hummer north of Baghdad, spg9 rocket at a US truck east of Baghdad, providing links of videotapes of all of these attacks. - The General Command of the former Iraqi army announced an attack on a US GMC vehicle carrying important officials, on October 2, 2008. - A US soldiers was killed by an Iraqi sniper in Mosul yesterday. Another US soldier was killed today (Friday) in Al-Amara. ===================================== 2 policemen killed, another wounded in IED blast in Mosul October 3, 2008 - 05:57:22 Two policemen were killed and another wounded when an improvised explosive device went off near their patrol in central Mosul city on Friday, a local police source said. “The IED detonated on Friday evening near an Iraqi police foot patrol in Bab Lakah area, central Mosul, killing two policemen and wounding another,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq. The blast occurred when the patrol arrived at the area to field-examine a policeman’s house that came under an IED attack earlier, the source said, not giving more details. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. to an MNF statement as received by Aswat al-Iraq. With that reported death, the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the March 2003 U.S.-led invasion rose to 4177. The September toll was 25. AmR (S) 46 juveniles released from U.S. jail – source October 3, 2008 - 04:22:55 The U.S. forces released 46 juveniles from the Krupper jail in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, lessening the number of young inmates in the U.S. facility from 90 last year to 70, according to a media advisor for the U.S. military on Friday. “The remaining number of juveniles are all in the Krupper prison,”
Kareem al-Sayyab told Aswat al-Iraq. “The U.S. forces are releasing 50 prisoners on a daily basis. They already released eight female inmates, and only four are left as negotiations to set them free are still going on,” he indicated. He said the number of Iraqi detainees in U.S. prisons now is 17,800
in addition to about 165 other carrying Arab and foreign passports.
