Independent Iraqi News Agencies, Yaqen.net and Amsi.org, Off Air a Day After Reporting on Al-Habbaniya Suicide Bombing

ccun.org, April 17, 2009

Today, the two major independent news sources, Yaqen.net and Amsi.org, are off air. These two independent news agencies have been the main source of objective reporting about daily war attacks in Iraq.

Yesterday, Yaqen.net reported that 24 Iraqi soldiers were killed, 48 were injured in a suicide bombing inside Al-Habbaniya Academy, in Al-Anbar Province.

The Reuters-affiliated news agency, Voices of Iraq, reported that at least 18 army soldiers were killed and 50 were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside al-Habaniya base in western Falluja on Thursday, a security source said.

Today, the Voices of Iraq news agency published a statement from the US forces spokesperson, Muqdad Jebreel,  denying any deaths as a result of that suicide bombing. This is in stark contradiction with all news reports of various sources, particularly the statement of Dr. Kadhum Hameed of the Ramadi Hospital.
