BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

At least ten people were killed and 18 others were wounded in three blasts in southeastern Baghdad, a police source said Tuesday.

“Three explosive charges went off Tuesday night (Aug. 11) in al-Ameen region in southeastern Baghdad, killing 10 and injuring 18,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“One of the bombs exploded in front of a fuel station, while another one went off near al-Muhsen mosque,” he noted.

Policeman gunned down in northern Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One policeman was killed by gunmen in northern Mosul on Monday, according to a security source.

“Unknown armed men shot and killed a policeman while on vacation in al-Magmouaa al-Thaqafiya region, northern Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The body was sent to the morgue,” he added, without giving further details.

A police source had said earlier that two gunmen killed a policeman in Bab al-Toub region in central Mosul.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Brit guard kills 2 foreigners, wounds Iraqi

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

A Brit working for Armor Group firm on Sunday killed two foreigners and wounded one Iraqi, the official spokesperson of Baghdad Operations Command said Monday.   “

One of the two foreigners who were killed is a British citizen, while the other is Australian,” General Qassim Atta told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The wounded Iraqi works as a security guard,” Atta said. He pointed out that the Brit who committed the incident is in the Iraqi police custody.

9 civilians killed, 90 wounded in Baghdad attacks - spokesperson

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

The Baghdad Operations Command’s spokesman said on Monday that nine civilians were killed and 90 were wounded in seven explosions in separate areas of Baghdad.

“Seven civilians were killed and 72 were wounded when a car bomb went off targeting construction workers in al-Shurta al-Rabiaa and al-Aamel regions on Monday morning (Aug. 10),” General Qassem Atta told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“11 citizens, including a policeman, were wounded in four bombs blasts in Raghbat Khatoun, al-Karada, al-Ghadeer, and al-Turath neighborhoods,” he added.

“A sticky bomb killed two civilians and injured seven more in al-Shaala region in northern Baghdad,” he said.

Gunmen kill cop in Ninewa

A policeman was killed Monday by unknown gunmen in central Mosul, a police source said.

“Two unidentified gunmen opened fire on a policeman in Bab al-Toub region, central Mosul, killing him instantly,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

2 blasts leave 11 casualties in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian was killed and 10 others were wounded Monday in two blasts in eastern Baghdad, a police source said.

“A roadside bomb, planted by unknown gunmen near Misloun square, eastern Baghdad, went off, killing a civilian and injuring eight,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“An improvised explosive device went off while a police vehicle patrol was passing in al-Ghadeer neighborhood, injuring two policemen,” the source added.

“Security forces sealed off the two regions and carried the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he noted.
