Casualties from the car bomb blast that ripped through a marketplace in Mosul’s Sinjar district have reached 29, including six dead, according to a local medic.

“Sinjar Public Hospital has received six dead and 23 wounded persons from the car bomb explosion that tore through a popular market in Sinjar (120 km west of Mosul) earlier today,” the medic told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Earlier today, a security source said that a roadside car bomb exploded in a market in al-Shamal district, Sinjar, killing four civilians and wounding 17 others.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Salah al-Din bombing casualties reach 23

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq:

 Casualties from the car bomb blast that ripped through an emergency police headquarters in Salah al-Din earlier today have reached 23, according to a security source.

“The final toll from the blast that targeted the headquarters of al-Shurqat emergency police on the west coast has reached nine dead, including three policemen, and 14 wounded persons, including five cops,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Most of the wounded have been taken to Tikrit Teaching Hospital, the source pointed out. Earlier this morning, a police source said that three policemen were killed and six others were wounded when a suicide bomber rammed his car bomb into the headquarters of al-Shurqat emergency police company on the west coast. The headquarters building was severely damaged in the blast, the source explained.

Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad.

Sticky IED targets house of senior police officer

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq:

A sticky improvised explosive device (IED) has exploded in front of the house of a senior policeman in Kirkuk, according to a source from the Joint Coordination Center in the city.

“On Friday (Aug. 28) evening, a sticky IED went off in front of the house of the director of the internal affairs department in al-Wassity neighborhood, southwestern Kirkuk, causing damage to a vehicle parked there,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
