Israeli occupation soldiers film themselves humiliating a Palestinian youth

Friday June 19, 2009 01:09 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies

In another outrageous incident, similar to previous acts of humiliation and abuse carried out by Israel soldiers, a video was released showing Border Policemen filming the abuse of a Palestinian youth in the West Bank.

The Palestinian youth slapping himself under orders of the Israeli soldiers

"Proud of their acts" the soldier usually post their videos on YouTube.

The recent video shows a Palestinian youth slapping himself after being ordered to do so.

The youth was forced to say "I love you Border Policemen",  and "I will F#@k you Palestine" in Arabic.

The youth was also forced to say "God, uncle...". He was forced to do or say whatever the soldiers desired while they laughed and "had fun" humiliating the terrified young man. After “satisfying themselves” the soldiers let the young man go.

Israeli online daily, Haaretz, reported that in one of the videos, a Palestinian man was forced to say some words like "One Hummus and one foul (cooked mashed beans)", and he was also forced to sign "I love you border Police" while the soldiers laughed and applause was heard in the background of the video.

Interviewing a number of Israeli Border Policemen, Haaretz, found out that they view such issues as "humorous".

The official response of the Border Police division is that there has been a sharp drop in complaints against Border Policemen for the misuse of force and inappropriate conducts.

But the lack of complaints does not necessarily mean that abuse incident did not happen, it's likely attributed to fear factor as many abused Palestinians fear retaliation from the soldiers if they expose them.

Last year, two Israeli soldiers were court marshaled after they appeared in a video abusing a bound and blindfolded Palestinian man.

The video shows a bound and blindfolded Palestinian man forced to repeat humiliating sentences while the soldiers were laughing in the background.
