US Soldier, 7 Iraqis Killed in War Attacks, 5 Attacks on US Forces, March 21, 2009

- A US patrol was attacked by a roadside bomb in Zaitouna, east of Baghdad, resulting in damages to one of the US vehicles.

- A US Hummer vehicle was destroyed in a roadside bomb attack in Akashat area, Al-Anbar Province, resulting in US casualties.

- A US Zell vehicle was destroyed in a roadside bomb attack in Al-Khaseem area, Al-Anbar Province.

- A police officer was killed, three were injured in a roadside bomb attack in Al-Amarah.

- Two Hummer vehicles were destroyed in an attack near Boyah, near Al-Qaem Road, Al-Anbabar Province.

- US soldiers killed a man and arrested two members of his family in Al-Hajjaj village, near Tikrit.

- A report of casualties in the sixth anniversary of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq (below in Arabic): 62% of the US soldiers who were killed in war attacks were killed in Baghdad and Al-Anbar Provinces.

Body of retired officer found in central Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Ninewa policemen found the body of a retired officer of the former Iraqi army in central Mosul city on Saturday, a security source in the province said.

“The police found the body of a retired colonel in the former Iraqi army in the area of al-Okaydat, central Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The body showed signs of having been violently tortured, with injuries concentrated to the head, but showed no signs of having been shot,” the source said, adding the body was removed to a morgue in Mosul.

He did not give more information about the incident.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Police chief wounded by IED

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq:

A police chief in Salah al-Din province was wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted his vehicle in northern Tikrit city, a local security source said on Saturday.

“Last night, an explosive charge detonated near a vehicle belonging to a police chief in al-Qadissiya neighborhood (northern Tikrit city), while he was heading home,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The official was slightly wounded in the blast, the source noted, adding that another device went off after bomb disposal experts had arrived on the scene, wounding one of them. Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad.

Sahwa fighter killed in Babel

BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq:

A Sahwa council member was killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted his vehicle in Babel province, a police source said on Saturday.

“A sticky explosive charge exploded inside a car belonging to a Sahwa council member in Sanidig area (60 km northwest of Hilla city),” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The member was fatally wounded and died later in al-Maseeb hospital,” the source added. The Sahwa councils are anti-Qaeda fighters working in coordination with the Multi-National Force (MNF) and the Iraqi government. Headed by local chieftains, the councils have been credited with helping reduce violence in many Iraqi provinces, like Anbar, Diala, Ninewa, and Salah al-Din.

Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.

Suicide attack kills cop, injures 2 in Falluja

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

A suicide bomber on Friday blew himself up targeting the house of a chieftain of Albu-Eissa tribe, killing one policeman and wounding two of the chieftain’s guards, according to a police source.

“The attack targeted the house of Sheikh Talib al-Hassnawi al-Issawi in Amiriyat al-Falluja area, west of Falluja city,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Police forces clashed with the bomber for around 30 minutes, before he blew up an explosive belt strapped to his body,” he said.

This is the second explosion of its kind in less than 20 days in the same region.

Falluja, Anbar province, lies 45 km west of Baghdad.

Civilian gunned down in Babel

BABEL / Aswat al-Iraq:

A civilian was killed and another one was injured on Friday by unknown gunmen in northwest of Hilla, a police source said.

“Unknown gunmen opened fire at a civilian car in Jarf al-Sakhr district in northwest of Hilla, killing a civilian and injuring another one,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The gunmen fled to unknown place,” he added.

Meanwhile, the same source said that a police forces found a stockpile of ammunition in al-Hamza al-Gharbi region in south of Hilla.

Hilla, the capital of Babel, is 100 km south of Baghdad.

U.S. soldier dies from non-combat related causes

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

A U.S. soldier died in central Iraq from non-combat related causes, raising U.S. fatalities in March to six soldiers, according to a statement from the U.S. army on Friday.

“A Multi-National Divsion- Center Soldier died March 19 from non-combat related causes,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The incident is under investigation,” it added.

The death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003 to 4,260.

Unknown corpse found in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Police forces found an unidentified body with signs of having been shot north of Mosul city, a security source from Ninewa province said on Thursday.

“The body was found at the Telkeef district intersection, north of Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The corpse, of a man in his forties, showed signs of having been shot in the chest and head,” he added.

“The body was removed to a morgue in the city,” the source said, not giving further details.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

في الذكرى السادسة للاحتلال..المقاومة في بغداد والانبار تحصد 62% من قتلى الاحتلال

اعدت احصائية بعد مرور ست سنوات على احتلال العراق مفادها ان 62 % من قتلى الاحتلال الامريكي في العراق خلال السنوات الست الماضية سقطوا في بغداد والانبار.

 فقد قتل في العاصمة بغداد 31,3% في حين قتل 30,8% في محافظة الانبار.

ويبلغ عدد القتلى المعلن في بيانات جيش  الاحتلال الامريكي ووزارة الدفاع الامريكية /البنتاغون/ 4259 جنديا امريكيا موزعين على 16 محافظة ، في حين لم تسجل في محافظتين هما السليمانية ودهوك عمليات قتل جنود الاحتلال.

وقتل في بغداد 1332 جنديا وفي الانبار 1313 وفي صلاح الدين 403 وفي نينوى 259 وفي ديالى 247 وفي بابل 185 وفي كركوك 95 وفي ذي قار 64 وفي النجف 31 وفي الديوانية 28 وفي كربلاء 24 وفي البصرة 24 وفي واسط 15 وفي ميسان 5 وفي المثنى 4 وفي اربيل جندي واحد . وما زال احد جنود الاحتلال الامريكي مختطفا لا يعرف مصيره منذ ان اختطف في 23 تشرين الاول 2006.

وتقول الاحصائية ان 165 قتيلا لم تحدد البيانات الامركية مكان مقتلهم ومن بين هؤلاء من قتل في دول اخرى مجاورة .

وتشير الاحصائية الى ان 165 جنديا ماتوا في مستشفيات خارج العراق بعد نقلهم الى هناك اثر تعرضهم لجروح اثناء العمليات العسكرية.


ومن بين القتلى الامريكيين 905 جنود 21% من العدد الكلي ، قال جيش  الاحتلال الامريكي انهم قتلوا في حوادث غير قتالية.

وخلال السنوات الست الماضية قتلت 104 مجندات في جيش الاحتلال الامريكي أي ما يمثل 2,4% من مجموع القتلى.

ففي عام 2003 قتلت 12 مجندة وفي عام 2004 قتلت 19 مجندة وفي عام 2005 قتلت 20 مجندة وفي عام 2007 قتلت 15 مجندة وفي عام 2007 قتلت 27 مجندة وفي عام 2008 قتلت 9 مجندات في حين قتلت مجندتان خلال الاشهر الماضية من عام 2009.

وحسب العرق الذي ينتمي اليه القتلى ، فان 3641 اي نحو ثلاثة ارباع القتلى كانوا من البيض و 9,5% من السود الامريكيين او من اصل افريقي و10% من اصل لاتيني.

وخلال السنوات الست اي 2190 يوما كانت نسبة الخسائر لدى جيش الاحتلال ، مقتل جنديين في كل يوم اي نحو 60 قتيلا في الشهر.

غير ان الخسائر ارتفعت في بعض الاشهر الى اكثر من 100 قتيل ، وكان اعلى الخسائر في شهر واحد هو 137 جنديا قتلوا في تشرين الثاني من العام 2004 وذلك في مواجهات عنيفة مع مسلحين في الفلوجة.

كما يأتي شهر نيسان من العام نفسه (2004) ، في المرتبة الثانية ، اذ سجل مقتل 135 من جنود الاحتلال.

واحتل شهر ايار 2007 المرتبة الثالثة بين الاشهر الاكثر دموية للاحتلال  (126 قتيلا).

واستنادا الى الارقام المعلنة في بيانات جيش  الاحتلال الامريكي ووزارة الدفاع الأمريكية
/البنتاغون/ فان عدد القتلى عام 2008 كان 312 جنديا في حين كان في عام 2007
(901) وهو اعلى رقم سجل خلال السنوات الماضية.

وكان عام 2003 سجل مقتل 486 وعام 2004 سجل مقتل 849 جنديا وعام 2005 سجل مقتل 846 جنديا وعام 2006 سجل مقتل 822 جنديا.

وكان شهر تموز 2008 هو الاكثر انخفاضا في عدد القتلى ، اذ سجل مقتل 13 جنديا.
وتفيد الاحصائية ان عدد الجنود القتلى من دول التحالف حتى الان بلغ 4577 منهم 4259 جنديا من جيش الاحتلال  الامريكي.

وتشير الاحصائية الى ان 318 جنديا من قوات21 دولة شاركت في احتلال العراق قتلوا خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية.

وتأتي بريطانيا على رأس القائمة ، اذ فقدت في العراق حتى اليوم 179 من جنود الاحتلال البريطاني.

وفيما يلي قائمة بالدول حسب عدد القتلى :
179 بريطانيا , 33 ايطاليا ,23 بولندا , 18 اوكرانيا ، 13 بلغاريا ، 11 اسبانيا ، 7 الدانمارك ، 5 السلفادور ، 5 جورجيا ، 4 سلوفاكيا ، 3 رومانيا ، 3 لاتفيا ، 2 استراليا ، ، 2 استونيا ، 2 تايلاند ، 2 هولندا ، 1 اذربيجان ، 1 هنغاريا ، 1 كازخستان ، 1 كوريا الجنوبية.

وتشير الاحصائية الى ان 447 شخصا كانو من جنسيات مختلفة كانوا يعملون مع قوات الاحتلال الامريكية قتلوا خلال السنوات الست الماضية ، بينهم 173 يحملون الجنسية الامريكية.
