Ahmadinejad Says Iran Hopeful About Success of Judicial Measures Against Zionists

Iran Hopeful about Success of Judicial Measures against Zionists

7  Rabi Al-Awwal  1430 /  Thursday 05 Mar 2009

TEHRAN (FNA)-

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Wednesday expressed hope that judicial action by Muslim states to bring Israel's top political and military leaders to trial will yield positive results.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an international conference dubbed 'Support of Palestine, the Model of Resistance, and Gaza, the Victim of War Crimes', the Iranian president said, "The judicial measures adopted by the Islamic states for bringing the Zionist criminals to trial will yield result and they (Israelis) will eventually have to leave (the stage)."

Asked to compare the Tehran gathering with the Sharm el-Sheikh conference, Ahmadinejad told reporters, "The difference between the international conference for support of Palestine (in Tehran) and Sharm el-Sheikh forum is the difference between human and the devil."

Earlier on the day, in his address to the conference, Ahmadinejad proposed formation of an international front against Zionism.

The two-day conference in Tehran is expected to focus on war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Israel during its three-week military invasion of the Gaza Strip (December, 2008 to January, 2009).

Representatives from Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Red Cross, UNICEF and the Human Rights Council in Geneva were present at the opening session of the event this morning, which was also attended by senior officials from the mainstream Palestinian resistance (Hamas, Fatah and Islamic Jihad).

Legal experts, politicians and religious figures who have come together for the conference will discuss ways to bring Israel's top political and military leaders to trial over the atrocities committed in Gaza.

Hamas Rejects Preconditions for Reconstruction of Gaza

7  Rabi Al-Awwal  1430 /  Thursday 05 Mar 2009

TEHRAN (FNA)-

Hamas movement Wednesday welcomed proper proposals for reconstruction of Gaza, but said that it may not accept preconditions for rebuilding the war-stricken Palestinian area.

"Our goal is to help the oppressed Palestinian nation but it should be done without any preconditions and we are prepared to talk and shake the hands of donors," deputy head of Hamas political bureau Moussa Abu Marzouq said addressing an international conference on support for Palestine in Tehran.

Referring to Israeli onslaught on Gaza which destroyed the coastal area's infrastructures and siege of the Palestinian people, Abu Marzouq said, "After more than 2 years of Palestinians' resistance, this approach has proved ineffective."

"Combatant groups will stand against the Israelis; they will not spare any efforts to bring reconciliation to the Palestinians and support integrity of the nation but we will not accept any Israeli preconditions," he stressed.

He pointed to Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people, and said, "Israel tried to introduce a good face of itself to the world people but due to the efforts made by the Palestinian people, the world public opinion realized that the Israelis had committed massive crimes."

"(The Palestinian) Resistance always comes victorious as it relies on its own nation," the Hamas official said, adding, "We support the ceasefire in a bid to restore the rights of the people who are under the oppression of the occupiers."
