Western Sources: 7 Afghanis Killed in War Attacks

Taliban Sources: Many Casualties in NATO Forces

Editor's Note:

As General Patton once said, "The first casualty of war is the truth." Readers are advised that NATO countries media units report many Afghani casualties and least NATO forces casualties. The same applies to pro-Taliban websites, which highlight the NATO casualties and minimize the Taliban fighters' casualties.

The NATO occupation forces and their media refer to the Taliban resistance fighters with the worst terms, like terrorists, insurgents, and militants, to derogate and dehumanize them in order for the public opinion to accept the NATO continuous massacres of Afghanis. The pro-Taliban websites also refer to the NATO occupation forces with the same derogatory terminology, like invaders and terrorists.

What's clear is that we do not have an independent verification of news.

War never solves any problems. Peace, reconciliation, and cooperation do.

Three Taliban fighters reported killed in Afghanistan

May 25, 2009

KABUL (AFP) –

The Afghan defence ministry said Monday troops killed three (Taliban fighters) in a southern Afghanistan hotspot where soldiers killed 60 (Taliban fighters) and made a major drugs haul last week.

It said a woman and a child were wounded in the operation on Sunday in the southern province of Helmand, a Taliban stronghold.

The US military confirmed the incident in the Nad Ali district but said only that three "men" were killed, without describing them.

"Three (Taliban fighters) were killed in armed clashes with the unit and three others were wounded," the Afghan defence ministry said in a statement.

The US military said the operation was aimed at capturing a key Taliban commander.

One of the men who was killed "appeared to be wearing a suicide belt and was warned to halt", it said. He was shot when he continued to approach troops.

Two other men where shot while using civilians as "shields", it said. In one case, a woman and child were hurt by a ricocheting bullet, its statement said.

Four men were arrested, it said.

Nad Ali is just north of Marja, where security forces said a four-day operation last week killed 60 (Taliban fighters).
