17 Iraqis, 3 US Contractors, 3 Iranian Pilgrims Killed, Scores Injured, Scores Arrested

Yaqen.net reported the following news:

- A car bomb explosion in Abu Gharib distrct, west of Baghdad, resulted in injuring 17 people in the street.

- 10 Iraqis were killed, 20 were injured in an initial report of a car bomb explosion in Al-Karrada.

- Iraqi army soldiers arrested 23 Iraqis in Al-Dhilou'ya.

- 3 bodies of US-recruited Sahwa fighters were found in Al-Shurqat district, in Salahudding Province.

- An Iraqi policeman was killed in an attack in Mosul.

- 3 Iranian pilgrims were killed, 28 were injured in an attack north of Najaf.

- The US base in Basra airport was attacked with rockets.

- 3 civilians were killed, 8 were injured by a mortar attack east of Baghdad.


4 cops wounded in Falluja

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

Four policemen were wounded on Wednesday in a roadside bomb explosion in eastern Falluja, a police source said.

“An explosive charge went off on Wednesday (May 27) targeting a police vehicle patrol in Karamat al-Falluja district in eastern Falluja, injuring four policemen, including a captain,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The police sealed off the whole region,” he added.

Falluja is 45 km west of Baghdad, while Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.

5 U.S. contractors killed, wounded near Falluja

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Three U.S. civilian contractors were killed and two others were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion near the city of Falluja, the media adviser of the U.S. army said on Tuesday.

“An explosive charge went off on Monday (May 25) targeting a convoy of the U.S. army near the city of Falluja, killing three U.S. civilian contractors and injuring two others,” Salam Saeed told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he added.

Falluja is 45 km west of Baghdad, while Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.

IED injures 2 cops in western Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two policemen were wounded on Tuesday in a bomb explosion in western Mosul city, a police source said.

“An improvised explosive device went off on Tuesday (May 26) targeting a police vehicle patrol in al-Shefaa neighborhood in western Mosul, injuring two policemen,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The wounded cops were rushed to the nearby al-Jomhouri hospital for treatment,” he added.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Mass grave found in Anbar

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

Police forces on Tuesday discovered a mass grave of seven unknown corpses in a border region in western Anbar, according to a security source.

“A detained man unveiled the presence of a mass grave of seven unidentified bodies killed by armed groups more than two years ago in western Anbar,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Police have started an investigation into the incident,” he added.

Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.

Civilian killed, 3 army personnel wounded in Kirkuk attacks

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian on Tuesday was killed and three Iraqi army personnel were wounded in two separate attacks in Kirkuk city, according to a local police source.

“During an early hour on Tuesday morning, unknown gunmen shot down a taxi driver in front of his house in al-Orouba neighborhood, southern Kirkuk,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “Meanwhile, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near a vehicle belonging to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense near a cotton gin on a main road in southern Kirkuk, wounding three army personnel, including two officers and one soldier,” Col. Ghazi Ali, a police chief in al-Muqdad police, said.

Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

7 people captured southwest of Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq:

Joint Iraqi forces on Wednesday arrested seven people in southwest of Kirkuk, the local police chief said. “A police force, backed by Iraqi and U.S. army troops, arrested seven persons, including a number of wanted men, in Mahous village in al-Huwaiyja district, southwest of Kirkuk,” Brigadier Sarhad Qader told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
