8 Taliban Fighters, 150 Afghanis Killed by US-Led Forces, 5 US Soldiers, 25 Afghani Soldiers Killed by Taliban Fighters, May 6-7, 2009

Editor's Note:

Afghani soldiers are referred to as "puppet" soldiers, Taliban fighters are referred to as Mujahideen, which means holy warriors. In their propaganda war, NATO countries news media refer to Taliban fighters as terrorists, militants, extremists, and insurgents. Taliban resistance to the NATO occupation is referred to as violence.

In absence independent verification, readers are bombarded by news reported by NATO countries news agencies degrading the Afghanis resisting the NATO occupation, mentioning high figures of Taliban fighters who are killed by US-led force. Systematically, past events showed that the vast majority of the victims were Afghani civilians, who are killed in US air strikes.

On the Taliban side, like in the case of pro-Taliban websites, many Afghani and NATO soldiers are reported killed. There is no way that objective reporting may happen unless reporters and their news media are neutral in this conflict. As General Patton once said, "The first casualty of war is the truth."

Eight Taliban fighters killed in Afghanistan clashes, bomb blast

DPA, Thursday, 07 May 2009, 09:23:43 GMT

Kabul -

Afghan army forces killed five Taliban fighters (referred to here as militants, insurgents) in a clash in eastern Afghanistan while three other "insurgents" were killed by their own bomb, officials said Thursday. Taliban militants attacked an army outpost in Yahyakhel district of the south-eastern Paktia province Wednesday, but the soldiers at the post pushed them back, the Afghan Defence Ministry said in a statement.

Five Taliban fighters were killed and another was detained by army soldiers during the engagement, the statement added, but did not say whether there were any casualties among their forces.

Separately, three Taliban fighters were killed Wednesday night when a roadside mine they tried to plant in the southern province of Helmand exploded, the Interior Ministry said.

Three other Taliban fighters clashed with police forces after they arrived in the area, the ministry said. Two more militants were wounded in the gun-battle, but all three managed to escape.

The Afghan Defence Ministry also said its forces rescued 11 kidnapped army soldiers and an Afghan interpreter, who were taken hostage by Taliban fighters in Gazniabad district of the eastern Kanur province.

The Taliban fighters attacked an army post in the area last week, killing four soldiers, wounding three more and taking the others hostage.

The army statement did not say when and how they secured the release of the hostages, but said the clash and the rescue operation left 24 Taliban fighters dead.

Taliban-led violence is still on the rise in Afghanistan around eight years since the ouster of the Taliban regime. The Taliban fighters vowed to increase their attacks as the county is expecting more than 20,000 additional US troops in the coming months. Currently around 70,000 international troops are stationed in Afghanistan.
