Escalation of Israeli Violations of Palestinian Human Rights in Occupied Jerusalem

October 18, 2009

JCCER: Israel escalated last month its violations of human rights in Jerusalem

[ 18/10/2009 - 02:20 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

The Jerusalem center for civil and economic rights (JCCER) stated Saturday that Israel escalated its violations of human rights during September in the occupied city of Jerusalem, where it carried out a number of attacks on Islamic holy places and violated the freedom of individuals.

The center added that Israel continued during last month the policy of demolishing homes of Palestinians in Jerusalem at the pretext of unlicensed construction, confiscating lands and expanding settlements.

The center noted that IOF troops killed last month Jerusalemite citizen called Rabi’a Al-Taweel at a military checkpoint and kidnapped 70 Palestinians from the Old City and its environs after clashes broke out in protest at attempts by Zionist settlers to storm the Aqsa Mosque.

In another context, the Hebrew radio reported that the IOF troops kidnapped four Palestinian citizens in the village of Abu Dis in Jerusalem last night at the pretext that they threw Molotov cocktails at Israeli cars which were traveling near the village.

In a press statement, Dr. Abdelkhaliq Al-Af, the secretary-general of the higher national committee of the celebration of Jerusalem as the capital of Arab culture in 2009, said that the Zionist attempts to break into and desecrate the Aqsa Mosque come in the context of the ongoing violations committed by Israel against the Mosque and the Palestinian people in the holy city.

Al-Af added that this vicious attack on the Mosque was carried out simultaneously with the ninth anniversary of the second intifada which started when Israeli "war criminal" Ariel Sharon deliberately desecrated the Mosque in an attempt to provoke Muslims’ feelings.

He stressed that holding vigils and having retreats inside the Aqsa Mosque are the only solution available now to repel Zionist attempts to attack it.

In the same context, different Kuwaiti political parties and forces announced last Wednesday the formation of a coalition of Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque intended for confronting the vicious Zionist attack on the Islamic holy places and the attempts to judaize the holy city.

According to the Palestinian information center (PIC) which covered the event, the coalition is composed of Islamic, liberal and independent political forces which decided in a rare scene to meet, regardless of their different political beliefs, in support of Jerusalem against the Zionist threats.
