World Quds (Jerusalem) Day

Ahmad Khatami Says Islamic Republic System the Only Solution to Palestine problem, Shallah Warns against Elimination of Al-Qods

Cleric: Islamic Republic System, Only Solution to Palestine problem

Friday Ramadan 28, 1430 (AH), September 18, 2009

TEHRAN (FNA)-

Tehran's Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said Friday that the only solution to Palestine problem is the idea of Islamic Republic system.

"The key to Palestine problem is only and only the idea of the Islamic Republic system. All Palestinians should go to polls and decide their political system," said Ayatollah Khatami in his second Friday prayers sermon.

"Our support for Palestine and noble Qods (Jerusalem) is on two bases: Muslim world is a united Ummah (community) and we are supporters of the oppressed," the Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Ayatollah Khatami as saying.

The World Qods Day issue will bring Palestine out of isolation, he added.

"The (late) Imam (Khomeini) raised it as an Islamic issue, believing that Zionists' confrontation against Palestinians is confrontation against Islam," said Ayatollah Khatami.

He then said Zionists are doing their best to prevent the rallies be held in a good manner but contrary to their expectation, the World Qods Day rallies are underway in Iran and abroad more gloriously than ever.

Ramadhan Abdullah Shallah Warns against Elimination of Qods

TEHRAN (FNA)-

Secretary General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Ramadhan Abdullah Shallah here on Friday warned that if Israel succeeds in eliminating Qods, it will occupy Saudi Arabia as well and the House of God as a result.

"Have you (Arab leaders) stood idle to receive news a day suddenly that Israelis dig channels beneath al-Aqsa Mosque to demolish it?" said Abdullah in an address to Arab heads of state.

Speaking as a pre-sermon lecturer in Tehran's Friday prayers congregation, Abdullah said, "Save Qods before it is late."

Also addressing the Zionist leaders and their allies, Abdullah said, "Do you think can take Qods from Muslims at once? Do you think Qods is only part of a land for which we are fighting? No, that's not true. Qods is rather part of Islam and there is no way but resistance and Jihadi moves to liberate it."

He told Zionists, "Don't imagine that can own even an acre of Palestinian land."

Mottaki: Palestine Issue Concerns All Muslim States

TEHRAN (FNA)-

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here in Tehran on Friday that Palestine issue concerns the whole world of Islam.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the World Qods Day rallies, Mottaki said national interests of all regional states are intertwined with the issue of Palestine, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

Reiterating that Palestine is not a domestic issue, Mottaki said that when countries from other continents interfere in Palestine issue in line with their domineering objectives, the Qods and Palestine issues can no longer be regarded as a domestic and regional issue.

He said Palestine is now an issue having to do with national interests of each of the regional states, having direct connection with security of all the regional and Muslim world states.
