Swedish journalist Donald Bostrom Confirms Israelis Stole Organs of More Than 1000 Palestinians

Swedish journalist: Israel stole the organs of more than a 1000 Palestinians

[25/09/2009 - 01:27 PM ]

ALGIERS, (PIC)--

Swedish journalist, Donald Bostrom, said that Israel started the illegal harvesting of organs from Palestinian victims as early as 1960, with a marked increase in this practice during the first Palestinian intifada.

Bostrom was speaking at an event organised, on Wednesday, by the the National Federation of Algerian Journalists in the capital Algiers.

He also said that the organ harvesting was not limited to Palestinian victims, but included those of other nationalities who were killed in Palestine.

He pointed out that the investigative report he published in August in Aftonbladet was based on testimonies of a UN group in Palestine about "the ugly treatment meted to the corpses of Palestinians."

He confirmed that he received death threats by telephone and e-mail after his article in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet about the IOF practice.

Swedish Journalist, Donald BostrÖm, who published the organ harvest article, accusing Israel of illegal removing the organs of Palestinians killed by the Israel army, stated during a Wednesday evening press conference in Algeria, that Israel illegally harvested body parts of more than 1000 Palestinians.

Bostrom was speaking at an event organized by the National Federation of Algerian Journalists. He stated that Israel started the illegal harvest of organs since 1960, and that the illegal conduct was escalated during the first Palestinian Intifada of 1987.

He also said that Israel did not only harvest Palestinian organs, but also organs of fighters from other countries who were killed in Palestine of near the borders.

Bostrom once again defended his report and said that it was based on testimonies on actualities.

He further said that he received several death threats over phone and via email.

His original report was published by the Aftonbladet Swedish newspaper, on August 17, 2009; it was titled ‘they stole our children’s organs’.

The investigation into the organs theft issue was launched after a UN group in Gaza protested the illegal and inhumane handling of the bodies of Palestinians killed by the Israeli forces.

Bostrom said that he is working with Algerian authorities to print additional copies of his book entitled “Inshallah” (God Willing), which was published in 2001.

His report caused tension between Israel and Sweden, and several Israeli leaders and officials demanded an official apology. Sweden said that the report was published because the country believes in the Freedom of Press.
