Three policemen were killed and four others wounded on Sunday when a suicide bomber drove his explosive vehicle into a police station in eastern Ramadi, a local security source said.

“A car rigged with explosives and driven by a suicide bomber rammed went off near al-Hamidiya police station in eastern Ramadi, leaving three policemen killed and another policeman and three civilians wounded,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Ramadi, the capital city of the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.

Policeman, 3 civilians wounded in central Falluja blast

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

Four persons, including a policeman, were wounded when an improvised explosive device went off near a police patrol in central al-Falluja city on Sunday, a local security source said.

“The IED blast targeted a police patrol in al-Andalus neighborhood, central Falluja, wounding one policeman and three civilians who happened to be near the attack site,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital,” the source added, not giving further details.

Falluja, the largest city in the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 45 km west of Baghdad.

Policeman gunned down in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

A policeman was shot dead by gunmen in a crowded outdoor souk (market) in the city of Mosul on Saturday, a security source in Ninewa said.

“A policeman on a leave of absence from duty was killed by gunmen bullets in the area of Bab al-Toub, central Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not give more information.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

IED blast wounds 2 policemen in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two policemen, one of them an officer, were wounded when an improvised explosive device went off near their patrol in northern Mosul city on Saturday, a local police source in Ninewa said.

“The IED exploded near a police patrol in the area of al-Ghabat, northern Mosul, leaving two policemen, one of them an officer in the rank of captain, wounded,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The IED detonated off a casino in the area when the foot patrol was passing nearby,” the source said, not giving further details.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Man found dead in Mosul

Police forces on Saturday found a body belonging to a civilian in Ninewa’s Mosul city, according to a local security source.

“The body, which belongs to a man in his fifties, bore signs of gunshot wounds to the head and chest,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “It was found in al-Mushahada area, western Mosul,” the source noted, providing no further details.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

2 civilians killed, wounded in Falluja blast

Two civilians on Saturday were killed or wounded when an explosive device went off near a downtown Falluja park, according to a local police source.

“An improvised explosive device exploded near a park in al-Jumhouriya neighborhood, downtown Falluja, killing a civilian and injuring another,” the source told Aswat l-Iraq news agency. The blast caused damage to a number of nearby stores, the source noted, providing no further details.

Falluja lies 45 km west of Baghdad, while Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, is 110 km west of Baghdad.

Civilian gunned down in Amara

MISSAN / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian on Saturday was killed by unknown gunmen in downtown Amara City, according to a local security source.

“Unidentified gunmen driving a modern vehicle opened fire on a salesman at Hay al-Hussein market, downtown Amara, killing him on the spot,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The source did not provide further details. Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad.
