Germany Voids Deal to Build an Iranian Port, Due to Israeli Pressures

Due To Israeli Pressures, Germany Voids Deal with Iran

Tuesday January 26, 2010 11:19 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies

Israeli sources reported that Germany had to void a deal signed between a German company and Iran to rebuild Bandar Abbas Iranian Port. The deal was canceled due to Israeli pressure and campaign against it.

The sources added that Israel is currently trying to void a natural gas deal between Germany and Iran.

Israeli Yedioth Aharonoth reported that Israeli refrained so far revealing its secret activities aimed at reducing the frequency of trade between Germany and Iran.

Israel is trying to pressure Germany into pressuring German companies into refraining from exporting equipment or advanced technology to Iran, especially in the fields of natural gas and fuel.

Trade deals between Germany and Iran witnessed a 9% reduction in 2009, while some experts said that this is not an indicator as many contracts are signed through mediators.
