ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was killed on Tuesday when a bomb that was put inside his car went off in central Falluja city.

“The civilian died instantaneously,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not mention further details, but noted that the car was heavily damaged.

Falluja, the biggest city of Anbar province, lies 45 km west of Baghdad.

8 wounded in blast in southeastern Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Eight persons were wounded on Tuesday when a roadside bomb went off in southeastern the Iraqi capital, at the major highway in Baghdad.

“The blast targeted two state-owned cars at the Mohmmed al-Qassim Highway,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the eight injuries were inside the two cars that were heavily damaged.

The source did not mention further details.

Sticky bomb kills commander of Sahwa fighters in southern Bohroz

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Commander of Sahwa (Awakening) fighters in southern Bohroz was killed on Tuesday when a sticky bomb attached to his car went off in central the suburb.

“The blast occurred today in central Bohroz, 55 km south of Baaquba city,” a local Sahwa source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the victim died instantaneously.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.

2 civilians killed, 7 wounded in blast in southern Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Two civilians were killed on Tuesday and seven others wounded when a roadside bomb went off at a popular market in Daura neighborhood, southern Baghdad.

“The blast occurred at the al-Athoryeen market in Daura,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not mention further details, but noted that the blast caused damage to shops at the market.

Bomb hits crowd of people in Baaquba

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: A bobby-trapped motorcycle went off on Tuesday targeting a crowd of people in Baaquba district.

“The blast occurred in central the district,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not mention further details, but noted that the blast left casualties.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.

26 cops wounded in clashes with protestors in Nassiriya

THI-QAR / Aswat al-Iraq: A total of 26 policemen have been wounded during clashes with angry men who protested the deterioration of electricity in the city of Nassiriya, head of the security committee of the Thi-Qar council said on Monday.

“Fierce clashes flared up on Monday (June 21) between police forces and protestors, who demonstrated against the deterioration of electricity in Nassiriya, during which 26 cops were wounded,” Sajad al-Asadi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“All casualties were reported among cops, including a colonel, and no casualties among protestors,” he added.

Gunmen kill civilian in western Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was killed on Monday by gunmen in western Mosul, a police source said.

“Unknown gunmen shot and killed a civilian in Tal al-Rouman region in western Mosul on Monday (June 21) and fled,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not give more details.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Katyusha rocket hits house in Talafar

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: A Katyusha rocket hit on Monday a house in northern Talafar in western Mosul, without leaving casualties, an official police source said.

“The rocket hit the house in al-Nour neighborhood in northern Talafar, without causing casualties,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The attack caused only some material damage to the house,” he added.

“Preliminary investigation assert that the rocket was launched from a region in southern Talafar,” he noted.

Talafar is 60 km northwest of Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, which lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Gunmen kill civilian in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was killed on Monday by gunmen’s fire west of Mosul city.

“Armed men around noon  today gunned down a civilian before his house at al-Zenjeeli area, west of Mosul,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the victim died instantly.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was seriously wounded when a bobby-trapped motorcycle went off on Monday in central Baiji district.

“The blast occurred today noon in central Baiji, 40 km north of Tikrit city,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the blast caused severe damage to nearby houses and shops.

Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad.
