Gunmen kill suspect in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq:

A group of gunmen killed a citizen, suspected of killing a person in a tribal clash, in central Kirkuk, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.

“Unknown gunmen killed a suspect, believed to be involved in killing a citizen in a tribal clash in al-Toun Koubri region in northeast of Kirkuk,” Brigadier Sarhad Qader told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“They killed him in front of Kirkuk court in central Kirkuk,” he added.
“A wanted man, Yassin Ahmad Saleh, was arrested in accordance with Article IV Terrorism Law in Majmaa al-Yarmouk in al-Riyadh district, southwest of Kirkuk,” the brigadier said.

Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad.

US vehicle runs over family in Ninewa

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Three people from one family were killed and three others of the same family were wounded when a U.S. vehicle ran them over in the northwest of Mosul city.

“The incident occurred yesterday evening, on the highway northwest of Mosul city,” a local security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency on Wednesday.

He noted that the family’s father and mother died in the incident, in addition to their daughter.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

3 killed, wounded by sticky bomb in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two women and a man were killed by a sticky bomb explosion in eastern Mosul, a police source said.

“A bomb, stuck to a civilian car, exploded in al-Kuweer street in eastern Mosul, killing a man and two women onboard,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The bodies were sent to the forensic medicine department in Mosul,” he added.

The source gave no further details.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Sticky bomb kills Sahwa leader in Diala

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq:

A commander of pro-government Sahwa (US-recruited) tribal forces was killed on Tuesday by a sticky bomb in Baaquba, head of Sahwa councils said. “A bomb, stuck to a civilian car of Khamis Saleh, the Sahwa leader of al-Nahr al-Kabier region in central Baaquba, went off, killing him instantly,” Khaled al-Lahiebi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He did not give more details. This is the second incident of its kind today, as the leader of the Sahwa forces in south of Bahraz, Raad Tami, was killed by a sticky bomb too. Baaquba, the capital of Diala, is 57 km northeast of Baghdad.

Civilian killed in blast in central Falluja

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

 One civilian was killed on Tuesday when a bomb that was put inside his car went off in central Falluja city.

“The civilian died instantaneously,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not mention further details, but noted that the car was heavily damaged.

Falluja, the biggest city of Anbar province, lies 45 km west of Baghdad.

2 civilians killed, 7 wounded in blast in southern Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two civilians were killed on Tuesday and seven others wounded when a roadside bomb went off at a popular market in Daura neighborhood, southern Baghdad.

“The blast occurred at the al-Athoryeen market in Daura,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not mention further details, but noted that the blast caused damage to shops at the market.
