Two Pakistani Soldiers, 20 Taliban Fighters Killed in FATA, June 9, 2010

HANGU/KHAR:

As many as 14 Pakistani Taliban fighters were killed and three security forces personnel injured in clashes in various areas of Upper Orakzai Agency, sources told Daily Times on Wednesday.

The sources said that 6 Taliban fighters were killed and a soldier injured in a clash in Arhagand Kandao while 8 Taliban fighters were killed and two security personnel injured in Sunpaka Kandao.

Also on Wednesday, a government official said that Taliban fighters had attacked two security checkpoints in Mohmand near the Afghan border, sparking an intense gun battle that killed two soldiers and six Taliban militants.

Maqsood Khan said that several soldiers and Taliban fighters were wounded in the overnight fight. staff report/ap
