Afghanistan War News Stories from NATO and Taliban Sides

As readers may observe below, while NATO announces almost no military operations or attacks, let alone casualties, the pro-Taliban website, alemarah, systematically and on daily basis, announces many Taliban attacks against NATO and Afghani forces, causing them a lot of casualties and losses in equipment.

Afghan ISAF Operations in Southern, Eastern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan (May 30, 2010) -

An Afghan-international security force detained several individuals suspected of insurgent activity in Helmand Province this morning.

The suspected insurgents were detained during a search of a compound in Bar Nowzad-e Gharbi, Now Zad district, after intelligence information indicated insurgent activity.

Another Afghan-international security force detained several individuals suspected of insurgent activities in Kandahar Province last night.

The combined force detained the suspected insurgents in a compound near Gondigan, west of Kandahar City, after intelligence information discovered militant activity. The search team found weapons and communications equipment in the compound.

No shots were fired and no Afghans were harmed in the above operations.

An insurgent mortar team was killed by a precision air strike in Paktiya Province yesterday.

The mortar team fired on coalition forces from a rural area in the Zormat district. As the mortar team attempted to drive away after the attack, coalition aircraft engaged the vehicle with a precision air strike, killing the insurgents.

A ground search team found a mortar system and mortar propellant in the vehicle.

Afghan and ISAF partners conducted a combined operation early Saturday morning near Sangbor, Helmand Province, to disrupt a criminal Taliban group responsible for supplying roadside bomb components.

As the combined force approached the compound of interest, several men were observed fleeing from the compound. One of the men presented a threat to the force and was killed, while the other men were detained. Several women and children were protected in this operation.

7 American killed as US helicopter shot down in Kandahar amid operation al-Fath

KANDAHGAR, May 30 - 

Mujahideeb of the Islamic Emirate during the major countrywide operation al-Fath shot down a US helicopter in Kandahar's Zhari district on Saturday noon (May 30).
According to the report, the helicopter was set on fire  right after it was shot and fell on the ground moments  later, killing  about 7 US soldiers and crew members  aboard, Mujahideen official said.

Similarly, a US helicopter got shot down in Helmad's Nad Ali district, while the (US forces) described the cause of the helicopter crash as quick landing. ( Sunday, 30 May 2010 19:14 )

Domestic army base comes under attack in Ningarhar

 NINGARHAR, May 30 -

Mujahideen carried out an attack on the base of combined police and  ANA located between Jalalabad and Torkhan in Mohmand Darah district  of the province yesterday night (May 30), local Mujahideen said.

About 4 missiles landed inside the base, wounding about 6 soldiers of ANA besides damaging the building badly.

District comes under attack in Ningarhar

US military tank hits roadside bomb in Nimroz

NIMROZ, May 30 -

A Mujahideen homemade bomb blast tore apart a US tank in Dil Aram district of Nimroz , destroying the tank and killing all the American soldiers on Saturday, the report said, adding the wreckage of the struck tank still exists at the site today.

Mujahideen missiles strike Kandahar airbase

KANDAHAR, May 30 -

One missiles struck the Kandahar airfield yesterday night (May 29), causing the (NATO forces) fatal losses but there are no further details on the extent of the death or injuries toll.

In fact, at least 13 foreign soldiers were killed last week in the missile strikes targeting the same airbase, in which the workshop of the helicopter got badly damaged.

British tank blown up in Helmand

Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate, in an attack on the combat patrol of British troops yesterday night (May 30), destroyed one of their tanks besides causing them losses of life and injures in Helmand's Sangin district.

In another news from Helmand, Mujahideen destroyed a logistical truck this morning (May 30) in this district.

On later Saturday (May 29), a blast in Arghandab district of Kandahar hit and destroyed one of the (Afghani army) vehicles killing about 4 soldiers with wounding another two.

Mujahideen destroy two Military Vehicles of the Invaders

Paktika May 30.

Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate in Paktika province ambushed a logistical convoy of the invading foreign forces in Gheb Khel area, Yahia Khel district, Paktika province.

According to the report, Mujahideen hit a military pick-up of the surrogate Afghan soldiers and an armored tank of the foreign invaders by firing rocket propelled grenades. Both were destroyed completely.

The report further says, American soldiers had positioned themselves on the roof tops of surrounding residential houses, when Mujahideen gun downed an American soldier who was standing on a housetop.

Mujahideen Pound Sayed Karam District Headquarter with Missiles

Paktya May 30.

Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan pounded the compound of the Sayed Karam district headquarter by firing four missiles which fell inside the official building. The report adds, the enemy sustained losses as a result of the attack but the detail are not on hand.
