Egypt Proposes Ceasefire in Palestine, US Vetoes Security Council Resolutions Despite the Israeli War Crimes in Gaza

May 19, 2021

Editor's Note:

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of David, Solomon, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

The following news stories are just examples of the Israeli occupation apartheid regime violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Palestinian Interior ministry: War crimes and genocide being committed in Gaza Short url Related

GAZA, (PIC) +-

The Palestinian ministry of interior affairs in Gaza has accused the Israeli occupation apartheid regime of committing war crimes and genocide against innocent civilians in the densely-populated Gaza Strip.

In press remarks on Monday, spokesman for the interior ministry Iyad al-Buzom said that the Israeli occupation state persists in killing children, women and elderly people with hundreds of projectiles and missiles that fall continuously from the air, land and sea over civilian homes in Gaza.

Spokesman Buzom said that the video footage and pictures that come from Gaza belie the allegations that are made by Israel to justify its heinous massacres.

“The occupation thinks that its horrific crimes would push our people to surrender, but it has failed to do so for 73 years and it will not succeed now,” the spokesman underscored.

He urged all the world’s free peoples to pressure their governments to move to end Israel’s brutal aggression against the Palestinian people.

Egypt Proposes Ceasefire for Thursday; US Again Vetoes Security Council

 IMEMC, MAY 19, 2021

The Egyptian government on Tuesday submitted to Israeli government officials and to representatives of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza a proposal for a ceasefire beginning 6 am Thursday morning. Hamas officials in Gaza have agreed to the proposal, but Israeli occupation apartheid regime officials have so far refused to respond.

Also Tuesday, 14 of the 15 member states of the United Nations Security Council attempted for the fourth time since May 10th to pass a resolution calling for a ceasefire, and the US for the fourth time vetoed it.

There is no negotiation and no communication happening between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in Gaza. Egyptian officials say they are trying to facilitate this communication, but there has been no cooperation from the Israeli side.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to pound Gaza with thousands of pounds of missiles night after night, killing over 200 people and destroying hundreds of millions of dollars worth of infrastructure.

The Egyptian government has said that the truce would be temporary, in order to allow them to bring in humanitarian aid through the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and the West Bank, and to evacuate severely wounded Palestinians from the overcrowded and overwhelmed hospitals in Gaza to hospitals in Egypt where they can be treated.

The US has repeatedly prevented efforts at a truce, preventing international efforts and refusing to condemn Israeli war crimes in Gaza – which have included targeting medical facilities, journalists, firing white phosphorus and leveling entire apartment buildings filled with families and children.

As Medea Benjamin wrote Tuesday in an article for Salon, “Diplomatically, the United States has exercised its veto in the UN Security Council 82 times, and 44 of those vetoes have been to shield Israel from accountability for war crimes or human rights violations. In every single case, the United States has been the lone vote against the resolution, although a few other countries have occasionally abstained.

“It is only the United States’ privileged position as a veto-wielding permanent member of the Security Council, and its willingness to abuse that privilege to shield its ally Israel, that gives it this unique power to stymie international efforts to hold the Israeli government accountable for its actions under international law.”

A former US deputy national security adviser during the Obama administration, Ben Rhodes, tweeted on Sunday that it “feels increasingly untenable for the U.S. to see this loss of civilian life in Gaza — including so many children — and not publicly call for a cease-fire.”

PCHR renews its warning that civilians are paying the heaviest price during the escalation and emphasizes that IOF’s ongoing strikes on residential populated areas and the use of weapons based on collective retaliation constitute grave breaches of the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 that amount to war crimes.

PCHR calls upon the international community, including the High Contracting Parties to the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, to act urgently in order to end all IOF’s military hostilities.
