Israeli Occupation Soldiers Continue Attacking and Abducting Palestinian Civilians, Dispossessing them of their Homes in Jerusalem

May 3, 2021

Editor's Note:

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of David, Solomon, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

The following news stories are just examples of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Three Illegal Israeli Settlers Shot in Drive-By Shooting Near Nablus

 IMEMC, MAY 3, 2021

On Sunday evening, three 19-year old Israeli settlers were shot and injured by gunshots from a passing vehicle while standing on the roadside by Za’tara military checkpoint in southern occupied Nablus.

Israeli soldiers stationed at the checkpoint opened fire at the vehicle from which the shots were fired — identified as a silver SUV — but the vehicle drove away.

The three wounded Israelis were identified as Yehuda Guetta from Jerusalem, Benaya Peretz from Beit Shean, and Amichai Hala from Safed. The three were students at a Yeshiva (Jewish religious school) located in Itamar settlement, built on stolen Palestinian land near Nablus.

One sustained critical injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and the third’s injuries were described as light.

According to the Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, “The [Israeli military] and security forces will not rest until they get their hands on the terrorists who carried out the attack”.

Following the shooting, Israeli forces closed the checkpoint, preventing all Palestinian civilians from entering or leaving the area. They also began invading nearby villages and towns, forcing all residents to remain in their homes during the invasions.

In addition, the Israeli military set up a number of ‘flying checkpoints’ throughout the northern West Bank, forcing Palestinian civilians to remain stopped on roadways for hours at a time waiting for their vehicles to be examined by the soldiers.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a a statement saying that, “We will not allow terror to raise its head, and we will strike our enemies forcefully.”

The three victims were taken to the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva for treatment.

The attack came in the midst of high tensions throughout the West Bank, with numerous attacks against Palestinian civilians by Israeli settlers and soldiers. The violent attacks against Palestinian civilians began two weeks ago, at the beginning of the Muslime holy month of Ramadan, when a right-wing Israeli group Lehava held a march through Palestinian neighborhoods shouting ‘Death to Arabs’ and injuring more than a hundred Palestinians in a single night.

Israeli soldiers and settlers have also repeatedly attacked Palestinian worshipers at and around the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which is the third-holiest site in Islam.

According to Israeli media, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement issued a statement that, “We praise the courageous operation at Za’tara checkpoint. We consider it a message in the name of the entire Palestinian people that Jerusalem is a red line and harming the holy places will cause an explosion of anger in the face of the occupation”.

WAFA: Israeli occupation forces assault protesters demonstrating against imminent evictions in Sheikh Jarrah”

 IMEMC, MAY 2, 2021

The Palestinian News & Info Agency (WAFA): Israeli occupation forces last night assaulted and dispersed dozens of Palestinian nonviolent protesters while holding a sit-in in the neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah, in occupied Jerusalem, against an imminent threat of eviction from their homes by the occupation authorities, said witnesses.

Police officers reportedly assaulted the protesters and beat up some of them, and also asked those protesting inside the homes slated for evacuation to leave them.

Currently, at least six out of 28 Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah are under the imminent threat of eviction from their homes to make way for a new Israeli settlement known as Shimon HaTsadiq. A plan for the settlement, consisting of 200 housing units on 18 dunums, has already been submitted to the Israeli municipality in Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem District Court has ruled at least six families must vacate their homes in Sheikh Jarrah as of today, despite living there for generations.

The same court ruled seven other families should leave their homes by August 1. In total, 58 people, including 17 children, are set to be forcibly displaced to make way for Israeli settlers.

The court rulings are a culmination of a decades-long struggle for these Palestinians to stay in their homes. In 1972, several Jewish settler organizations filed a lawsuit against the Palestinian families living in Sheikh Jarrah, alleging the land originally belonged to Jews.

These groups, mostly funded by donors from the United States, have waged a relentless battle that resulted in the displacement of 43 Palestinians in 2002, as well as the Hanoun and Ghawi families in 2008 and the Shamasneh family in 2017.

PA Foreign Ministry Denounces Israeli Occupation Soldiers Assault On Christians On Holy Saturday

 IMEMC, MAY 2, 2021

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry issued a statement denouncing the Israeli police attack on dozens of Palestinian Christians celebrating Holy Saturday, on Saturday evening, in the occupied capital, Jerusalem.

In its statement, the ministry described the attack as a flagrant violation of religious freedoms and the freedom to access all holy sites.

It added that such an attack reflects the prevalence of hatred, extremism, and racism in the institutions, including the police, of the occupying power [Israel].

The Ministry also called on the International Community to provide the needed protection to Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine, and the Palestinian people living under Israeli occupation and subject to various forms of violations, assaults, and crimes.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers also assaulted two young Palestinian men, celebrating Holy Saturday with their families, near the church and abducted them.

On its part, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also denounced the attack and the harassment targeting Palestinian Christians near the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and demanded Israel to respect religious freedoms, and to stop its violations, against the Palestinian Muslims and Christians in the occupied holy city.

It is worth mentioning that Sunday marks easter for Orthodox Christians.
