Local sources reported that one person was killed and two others were wounded in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon. The sources indicated that one person was killed in an Israeli drone strike that targeted a car in the town of Zurarieh, while two airstrikes on the town of Tayr Dibba resulted in injuries to paramedics. They explained that Israeli aircraft also launched an airstrike on the town of 'Hadatha in the Bint Jubail district, and another airstrike on the El-Jabal El-Rafee' area between the towns of Siddiqeen and Jabal El-Batoum in the Soor (Tyre) district. (QNA) The Israeli entity continues its attacks on southern Lebanon, despite the announcement of a second 45-day extension of the ceasefire on Friday. *** Israeli Air Strikes Escalate Across Southern Lebanon, Despite Ceasefire Extension Al-Manar, May 17, 2026 Israeli attacks intensified across southern Lebanon on Sunday, in continued violation of a declared ceasefire, just two days after Lebanese authorities announced a 45-day extension of the truce, an agreement that has yet to translate into calm on the ground. The attacks took place in El-Nabatiyeh, Bint Jubail and Soor (Tyre) districts as well as in Western Biqaa', according to Al-Manar correspondents. Since dawn on Sunday, heavy Israeli artillery shelling targeted multiple towns in the El-Nabatiyeh district, including Zawtar Al-Sharqiyah, Yu'hmor El-Shaqeef, Kfar Tibneet, El-Nabatiyeh El-Fawqa, Kfar Seer and Mayfadoun. Airstrikes hit Zawtar Al-Sharqiyah and Jibsheet, which was also struck by another raid carried out by a drone. Our correspondent added that as unmanned aircraft maintained low-altitude flights over villages in the area. The scenes below display the widespread destruction after an Israeli air strike in Jibsheet. The escalation extended to the districts of Soor (Tyre), Bint Jubail and Marji'youn where artillery fire struck Kafra, Touleen, Majdal Selm, El-Ghandouriyeh, Shaqra, and Qulaileh. Warplanes also bombed El-Ghandouriyeh, Zibqine and Majdal Selm, while a helicopter carried out a raid on the city of El-Khiyam, Al-Manar correspondent reported, underscoring the breadth of the ongoing Israeli assault. In the Western Biqaa', Israeli warplanes launched three strikes on the outskirts of Yu'hmor, reportedly targeting livestock farms. Additional raids, conducted by both aircraft and drones, hit the town of Su'hmor. The video below shows smoke rises after an Israeli strike on Su'hmor. *** Israeli Aggression Continues in Southern Lebanon Al-Manar, May 16, 2026 According to the latest Al-Manar reports, a series of Israeli airstrikes targeted the towns of Yu'hmor El-Shaqeef, Zawtar El-Sharqiyah, Dair Qanoun El-Nahr, El-Qulaylah, El-Bayyad, El-'Abbasiyah, and the El-'Hawsh area southeast of Soor (Tyre) in southern Lebanon. A Zionist force advanced toward Wadi area in the town of Shib'a, simultaneously conducting a sweep with machine guns as operations intensify across southern Lebanon. The Israeli enemy continues its military escalation against southern Lebanon, issuing evacuation threats and carrying out multiple airstrikes just days after a US-brokered ceasefire extension. Following the extension, the Israeli enemy threatened residents of nine towns with evacuation: Qa'qaiyat El-Sunoubar, Kawthariyat El-Sayyid, El-Marwaniyya, El-Ghassaniyya, Tuffahta, Arzi in Sayda (Sidon), El-Babiliya, Ansar (El-Nabatiyeh), and El-Bisariya. Enemy warplanes launched airstrikes on the towns of Kawthariyat El-Sayyid, al-Ghassaniyya, Qa'qaiyat El-Sunoubar, Tuffahta, Dair Qanoun Ras El-'Ain, and 'Haboush in the Nabatiyeh district. Another airstrike targeted Ya'hmar El-Shaqeef, coinciding with shelling and an aerial attack on the town of Ansar. The outskirts of El-Haniya and El-Qulaila were subjected to artillery shelling, while enemy warplanes bombed a house belonging to the Nassar family in Kawthariyat El-Sayyid no injuries were reported. An additional Israeli raid struck the area between Arnoun and Ya'hmar El-Shaqeef. Source: Al-Manar English Website *** Israeli escalation intensifies as airstrikes target towns across southern Lebanon Saturday 16-May-2026 BEIRUT, (PIC) The Israeli occupation forces continued heavy air and artillery strikes across southern Lebanon on Saturday, amid ongoing military escalation accompanied by direct threats against civilians and an expanding scope of attacks. Lebanese media reported that artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of Kfar Tibneet and El-Nabatiyeh El-Fawqa, while an airstrike hit the area between the towns of Arnoun and Yo'hmor El-Shaqeef, reflecting a recurring pattern of attacks concentrated around populated areas. At the same time, the Israeli army issued urgent evacuation warnings for nine towns and villages in southern Lebanon, including Qaqa'aeet El-Sunawbar, Kouthariyet El-Siyad, Marwaniyeh, Ghassaniyeh, Teffahta, Arzi, Babbliyeh, Ansar and Bissariya, in what appeared to be preparation for additional strikes and a further expansion of forced displacement among residents. On the ground, 'Hizbullah announced on Friday that it had carried out a series of attacks targeting Israeli military positions, including the headquarters of Brigade 300 and the Liman barracks in northern Israel using explosive drones, in addition to 21 operations targeting Israeli soldiers and military vehicles inside Lebanese territory. 'Hizbullah said the operations came in response to Israeli ceasefire violations and attacks on southern Lebanese villages that resulted in civilian casualties amid worsening humanitarian and security conditions. According to available figures, Israel has continued to violate the ceasefire declared on 17 April. On Friday alone, at least 10 people were martyred and 44 injured in 73 separate attacks, including strikes targeting a health center and an ambulance point, in what observers described as a clear violation of international humanitarian law prohibiting attacks on medical facilities and personnel. *** Israeli strikes escalate across Lebanon, as 'Hizbullah launches drone, rocket attacks Friday 15-May-2026 BEIRUT, (PIC) The Israeli occupation forces on Thursday issued evacuation warnings to five towns in the Biqaa' region in eastern Lebanon and three towns in the south, while media sources reported Israeli airstrikes targeting several areas across southern Lebanon. Israeli forces warned residents of the towns of Labbaya, Su'hmar, Tafahata, Kfar Melki, Yu'hmar, 'Ain El-Teeneh, Houmeen El-Fawqa, and Mazra't Sinai to evacuate. The Israeli military also announced the launch of a series of airstrikes targeting multiple areas in southern Lebanon. According to Al Jazeera, Israeli strikes targeted the towns of Tafahata, Zibqeen, Siddiqeen, El-Mansouri, and Kafra in southern Lebanon. Two additional strikes hit the towns of Labbaya and Su'hmar in the western Biqaa' region. Israeli airstrikes also targeted 'Ain El-Teeneh in western Bekaa, the Jour Heights area, and the towns of 'Haddatha, Kfar Melki, and Qusaybeh. Two drone strikes also hit the town of Jarjouh and the outskirts of El-Zurariyeh in southern Lebanon. Two Israeli strikes also targeted the town of Faroun in southern Lebanon. Meanwhile, Hezbollah said it fired rockets and artillery shells at an Israeli force inside a house in the town of Dair El-Siryan in southern Lebanon. Earlier at dawn, 'Hizbullah announced that it targeted an Israeli force moving from the town of El-Bayyadha toward El-Naqoura in southern Lebanon with a rocket barrage. The group also said it struck a Merkava tank with a guided missile in Tal Na'has near the outskirts of Kfar Kila, affirming a direct hit. Hezbollah added that it launched an attack using two explosive drones targeting another Merkava tank in the town of El-'Houla, along with technical equipment in the city of Khiam in southern Lebanon. The group also said it carried out a similar drone attack targeting a gathering of Israeli forces in the city of Bint Jubail in southern Lebanon. On Wednesday, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that 22 people were killed in Israeli strikes and attacks targeting areas in Mount Lebanon and southern Lebanon. Despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that took effect on April 17 and was later extended following direct talks between the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors in Washington, the Israeli military has continued attacks on Lebanon, especially in the south, leaving several people killed and injured. These developments come just hours before a new round of talks between Lebanon and Israel is set to take place on Thursday in Washington, DC. Separately, three Israeli settlers were injured Thursday after a Hezbollah drone struck the Ras Naqoura area near the Lebanese border, while Israeli forces continued launching strikes on Lebanese towns. Yedioth Ahronoth reported that three settlers were injured, including two seriously, after the drone hit a vehicle site in Ras Naqoura. Israel’s Channel 12 said the injured included two workers employed by a contracting company. Israeli Army Radio reported that warning sirens were not activated in Ras El-Naqoura and that air defense systems failed to intercept the drone, which exploded near a military site in the area. Earlier, Israel’s Home Front Command announced sirens sounding in the Upper Galilee following the detection of a drone launched from Lebanon. Yedioth Ahronoth, citing a source, said the number of Israelis injured by Hezbollah drones over the past two weeks has risen to 17. The newspaper also quoted an official at Rambam Hospital saying that most drone-related injuries among Israeli soldiers involved the face, neck, and hands. A military source told the paper that Israeli soldiers in Lebanon are moving around wearing body armor and helmets, never knowing when drones might target them. The source added that the Israeli military has so far failed to find an effective way to stop drone attacks, describing them as “the greatest threat” facing Israeli occupation forces in Lebanon. In the same context, the newspaper quoted a security source as saying there is currently no successful solution to confront drones, although the army is providing soldiers with protective systems and equipment. *** UNICEF says 200 children killed in Lebanon since March 2 Friday 15-May-2026 BEIRUT, (PIC) The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that 200 children have been killed and 806 others injured in Lebanon in the ongoing Israeli attacks since March 2, warning of worsening humanitarian and psychological conditions for children (part of an overall death toll of 2,846 Martyrs and 8,693 Injuries by May 10, 2026, since March 2, 2026). by March 10, 2026 In a statement issued Thursday evening, UNICEF said children in Lebanon continue to bear the heaviest toll from ongoing violence, displacement, and trauma despite the ceasefire announced on April 17. The organization said that last week alone saw 59 children killed or injured, while 23 children have been killed and 93 wounded since the ceasefire began, describing the figures as a stark reminder of the continuing dangers and violations facing children. UNICEF added that an average of around 14 children have been killed or injured every day since the start of the offensive, noting that children are being killed and wounded at a time when they should have been returning to school and normal life. The organization also warned of severe psychological consequences from the war, saying nearly 770,000 children in Lebanon are suffering worsening mental distress due to violence, loss, and displacement amid a lack of adequate mental health and social support services. UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Edouard Beigbeder said the reality on the ground contradicts the declared ceasefire, adding that continued attacks are killing children, deepening their suffering, and leaving devastating lifelong effects. The organization called on all parties to protect children, comply with international humanitarian law, and ensure the continuation of the ceasefire. According to official Lebanese figures, the ongoing Israeli offensive on Lebanon since March 2 has killed 2,896 people and injured 8,824 others, while displacing more than one million people. US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah on April 17, later extended for an additional three weeks. However, Israel has continued violating the truce through repeated airstrikes and shelling across different parts of Lebanon. Southern Lebanon has recently witnessed a major military escalation between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, including the killing of an Israeli soldier, evacuation warnings issued to southern villages, mutual attacks, airstrikes, and shelling, amid political tensions ahead of the expiration of the current ceasefire and the resumption of indirect negotiations in Washington. The Israeli military said on Friday that one of its soldiers was killed by a Hezbollah mortar shell launched from Lebanon. Israeli forces also issued evacuation orders for six villages in the Tyre district in preparation for shelling them. The Israeli military further announced intercepting a projectile launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel after sirens sounded in the Eilabun area. Meanwhile, Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on various areas in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah targeted Israeli military sites and vehicles. Separately, Israeli forces on Friday warned residents of five southern Lebanese towns to evacuate, one day after talks between Lebanon and Israel resumed in Washington and days before the ceasefire is due to expire. Through a statement posted on X, the Israeli military spokesperson listed the towns near Tyre whose residents were ordered to evacuate “immediately,” saying Israeli forces would “operate forcefully” against the Iran-backed Hezbollah over alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement. The towns named were Shabriha, Hammadiya (Tyre), Zoqoq al-Mafdi, Maashouq, and al-Housh. Hezbollah announced five military operations carried out Thursday night and early Friday morning, including targeting an Israeli force moving in the Bidar al-Faqani area in the town of Taybeh with rocket fire. The group also said it targeted an Israeli force near the newly established Bayyada site with rockets and artillery, and struck a Merkava tank attempting to support Israeli troops with a guided missile, claiming direct hits before launching another rocket barrage at the same force. In a third operation, Hezbollah said it detonated an explosive device against two Israeli D9 bulldozers moving from the town of Rashaf toward Haddatha, destroying the first bulldozer. The group added that when the second bulldozer attempted to continue advancing toward the Bidar area in Haddatha, it was also hit by another explosive device and destroyed. Hezbollah said Israeli warplanes later struck the second bulldozer, setting it on fire. Hezbollah also announced detonating an explosive device targeting an Israeli force allegedly infiltrating near a water pumping station north of Taybeh, followed by artillery shelling that forced the force to retreat under heavy fire and smoke cover while Israeli helicopters evacuated the wounded. In a fifth statement, Hezbollah said it confronted Israeli aircraft and drones over southern Lebanon using surface-to-air missiles. Politically, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said the success of the indirect negotiations between Lebanon and Israel expected in Washington depends on achieving a genuine ceasefire. In remarks published on Thursday by Lebanese newspaper Ad-Diyar, Berri said, “Negotiations begin today at 9 a.m. Washington time, and if a real ceasefire is not achieved, everything will collapse.” Asked about Lebanon’s negotiating position, Berri said, “We will accept nothing less than the withdrawal of Israeli forces, reconstruction, deployment of the Lebanese army, and the return of residents.” Regarding a broader solution, Berri said Lebanon cannot emerge from its current crisis without regional and international backing to stabilize the country, stressing that Lebanon needs “a regional umbrella, particularly a Saudi-Iranian understanding or agreement on Lebanon under American sponsorship.” *** Fair Use Notice This site contains copyrighted material the
